The fight scene between the ML and FL in episode 4 is one of the sexiest scenes I’ve seen in a drama this year. This is how you write a proper enemies-to-lovers trope.
The writing is just bad. The tropes themselves aren't the issue—it's how poorly they're handled.
This push-pull dynamic could have worked, but the writers gave the female lead zero brain cells, and the male lead's "acts of love" come off as straight-up cruel and manipulative.
In the end, there's no one to root for.
I get why the FL reacts the way she does, but her constant stupidity is impossible to overlook. Same with the ML. I understand his motives, but his manipulation makes him unlikable.
You can't build a romance people actually care about when both leads are this unlikable, and the obstacles keeping them apart feel so dumb.
One of my biggest issues with most shows is how formulaic and predictable they are. These writers seem to have a checklist of predictable angsts they wanna go through before deciding to give us a happy, sad, or rushed ending.
It's metaphorical. She is suffering so much now that she regrets her choices. It's to highlight her inner struggles…
Are you paying attention to what you're watching? They are close because they're friends. There's literally no romance between them. She see Wu Zishu as a friend, and his love is unrequited. She only loves Zhu Yu.

I find it insane that China has banned so many elements in movies and tv shows yet has allow rampant feminist propaganda to go unchecked in these dramas. Feminism is an incredible destructive ideology and is destroying modern societies.
Another shit Cdrama.Fl + dozens of men, with full interactions, flirtations and everything in between.ML on the…
Many of these dramas are filled with feminist propaganda. The dude is basically there to be her prop. Notice all the men in this drama are either losers or simps. Only the ML is ok, but he's mostly used as a prop for the FL. The largely Cdrama female audience loves that stuff.

"We live in a society where women can have the same freedom as men to flirt with anyone they like as long as they're not in a relationship so you should take your conservative view elsewhere."
The point is why only write the some of women that way? If people are free to flirt, then let the men be playboys too, let them have multiple concubines when they're married and paint it as normal. But they won't do that because it will upset the mostly female audience.
Finally, MZY is showing his true powers. The contrast between our two main couples is interesting: MZY should be WZ's mortal enemy because he's a demon hunter and she's a half-demon (on track to become a full demon if WZS gets his way), while LT and MS should also be incompatible since she's a demon and he's just human. Also, I'm glad that MZY isn't acting like an idiot out of jealousy. I hate that trope.
