They destroyed everything by making up their own inferior story. They turned the FL into this one-dimensional revenge-seeking ice queen. But her character was so much more interesting in the novel. Yeah, that scene was supposed to be controversial. It's interesting storytelling. Later on, instead of owning up and saying sorry, CXZ gaslit MT by pinning the blame on her.
He was too full of himself to admit he was wrong—I couldn’t stand him for that. But that’s just how stubborn he was. Even after MT ditched him because she wasn’t about to be a concubine, he cockily acted like it was just a little break and he’d swoop back to snag her after the war. But they were both love sick.
This is a much better story than the generic revenge crap the drama wrote.

Same! I was so angry with "Are You The One" I said to myself that I would never watch another adaptation of a novel that I've read and liked. But here we go again. lol
It's just another drama adaptation destroying the source material so they can appeal to the lowest common denominator.
Yep! When you’re low on talent, creativity, and imagination, you just slap together a show from some lame checklist you think audiences will eat up. Oh, and I can’t stand how they messed with Jiang Si’s relationship with her brother. In her past life, they weren’t even close—kinda cold with each other. When she got her second shot, she took it as a chance to be nice to him. That vibe was way cooler than the drama’s goofy, over-the-top brother shtick.

Some folks might think we’re after a straight-up, chapter-by-chapter remake. We get it—cramming 800 chapters into 40 episodes is no easy gig. But what these dramas usually do is take the original stuff and churn out different, way worse stories packed with cheesy clichés and dumb comedy bits that don’t even fit. Honestly, these studios are just seriously short on talent.
The ML is such a goofy and cringe actor. He played this same cringe goofy character in his previous drama. He ruined Cui Xing Zhou's portrayals with his goofy and wooden acting, and now he's ruining this ML too. I can't enjoy this drama when I have to skip over so many of his scenes. I'm dropping this to finish reading the novel.
I'm on ep 7 and and Yu Qi's 'bright eyed and bushy tailed' acting is getting on my nerves. Generally this drama…
His acting is so cringe. He played THIS EXACT same dumb goofy character in his previous drama. It's irritating. I can't believe anyone likes this crap.
The series has completely fucked up the novel. I can't believe what the screenwriter and the director were thinking…
It's like this with 90% of novel-to-drama adaptations. They use the novels as inspiration to tell an entirely different story, one that is 1000% worse than the source material. So, if you read a novel that you liked, DO NOT get excited about its drama adaptation because they will surely mess it up.
"In the carriage escorted by the Holy City’s cavalry of the Jinxiu Dynasty, Feng Suige held Yi Xiao tightly in his arms. After a long while, he sighed and said, “I want to say I’m sorry, but I can’t help feeling jealous.” Seeing Yi Xiao’s confused look as she raised her head, he continued in a low voice, “This… is the reason he refused to marry Xi Yang, isn’t it? And you were willing to die rather than reveal this secret for him.”
Yi Xiao was stunned for a moment, then chuckled softly as she buried her head in his chest. “I thought you’d be elated that there’s nothing between His Highness and me…” Before she could finish, Feng Suige’s laughter rang out above her head. “You’ve seen right through me—Ouch, you dare bite me!”
Amidst their playful banter, Yi Xiao almost laughed to tears.
Yes, since this was a secret, let it vanish with the past like smoke in the wind."

The drama might change it.
