I think I see where this is going. The mother will speak to the father about giving Hu Xiu a chance. The father will conduct a background check, which will reveal that she's connected to that accident. He will tell Pei Zhen. Pei Zhen will try to play white knight until he finds out that Hu Xiu is Zhi Yu's girlfriend. This could go two ways: Pei Zhen could be selfless and try to help the situation so as not to hurt Hu Xiu, or he could be petty to torment Zhi Yu. Whatever he does, I don't really care. But I suspect the writers will redeem Pei Zhen's character (I'm not sure what happened in the novel). But ultimately, it will be Hu Xiu's father who causes the temporary breakup we're anticipating.
