What an episode. It's made for crying. I didn't think we would also get more closure on the princess and the merchant. These are all such tragic couples. But they are not frustrating at all. Simply star-crossed.

This is what not quite reverse harem political intrigue should be like. I'm very curious how Zhao will play them against each other while she lacks her own power. She already has a nice relationship with the little emperor and he is the fastest gateway to the leads behaving like a couple I have ever seen. 😂

A perfect mix of funny, romantic and smart female leads with petty side characters giving the episode some spice. This was one of the best kiss scenes I have ever seen because it started so awkward and became so steamy.

After a bit of a slump during the end of the Zigu Lane portion, this drama has been doing wonderfully again during the last episodes. It's great to see two women doing their thing at the military camp. Changyu is still such a charming character.

Key to the Phoenix Heart Episode 10

As Jia Yu says herself: very satisfying action! The leads were too cute running at each other and the story between Wu Yi and his (adoptive) mother was a tearjerker. I feel so much for both of them. It was also great to see Le Jun in action. I hope this means the next arc delves into her character a bit more. The jealousy is on with Mao, lol. I wonder how effective it will have been that the emperor let him see Xie Huai Gu's true colors. It's also sweet to see Jia Yu's character progress more and more.

Key to the Phoenix Heart Episode 5

The best episode so far within an incredible start to this drama. Everyone is catching up, twisting and turning within the political intrigues while one old man has had time to set his game up for decades. Every character is engaging and I am so excited to learn more about each of them. Among a slate of fast-paced dramas released in the last month, Key to the Phoenix Heart stands out by not generating a mess while at it.

This is the episode I've been dreading because I really don't care about the ML's legs getting treated. In fact, I would have enjoyed to see his story play out as he keeps his disability and maybe only gets some mobility back. I also thought the drama would take the time to treat him throughout multiple episodes instead of the world just stopping so he can complete treatment. Hopefully he will still struggle for the next episodes. The rating is still high for me due to everything else going on. Jingli was so close to getting it and him falling back into his old thinking patterns immediately, truly shows how much we are influenced by others.

The weakest episode so far simply because it starts very strong and then retreats story that has already been covered without much progress.

My favorite episode so far. The mystery around Lishan Mountain thickens, Ye Li's craziness was peak and her sister is a good storyteller if nothing else. I've also been waiting for her to interact with the Young Lord Mo.

A nice new time travel mechanic. I prefer other dramas sprinkling the "future past" throughout the first episodes rather than a whole flashback. This solution isn't bad, but I would have liked some more action, especially because the flashbacks skip through time quite fast.

The relationship between the leads is progressing nicely. Changyu has been behaving with a lot of freedom and while her actions paid off, they were also so great to watch because the tension of "what if something goes wrong" remained. She needs to learn what it means to be at a military camp. Only reason this isn't a full 10 is due to the omitted battle scenes.
