How do you know they’re straight? The spaces I’m in where people were criticizing it were all queer. Interestingly, a lot of the arguments used by people to try to defend it was accuses dripping in homophobia.

It hasn’t been blowing up so much that more about it has appeared on my timeline. Whereas other media I’d never even heard of before has, multiple times. Also looking at the trends gmmtv put out for the eps, that global reach seems to stay primarily concentrated in Asia. Capitalism being part of worldbuilding wasn’t the point. It was the fact that someone was saying because they’re going against said power structures that inherently made it a queer series. It is truly amazing how a lot of y’all will eat up queer content but when something is playing in your face and everyone is telling you it’s wrong, you will vehemently defend it. Because in reality the ones fighting battles for it are male centered straight women.

before you make accusations that’ll just make you look stupid, maybe you should take a quick glance at my profile and it will tell you I’ve have this acc for way longer than this show has been around. Join Date: May 24, 2024.

I’d honestly forgotten about the show because it’s made absolutely no noise online past the first episode lmao. But clips finally started trickling in this week with fans freaking out over moments with clear baiting undertones. Then some girly had to write a whole dissertation about how the series is queer because they’re outsiders fighting capitalism and patriarchy 😭 which I thought the show was about magic and fantasy so idk how tf capitalism plays into that
the switch-up in these comments since the show started is crazy. people ruthlessly defended against the queerbaiting allegations and called people fetishizers. now they’re the ones full on shipping wishing this was a bl. predictable lmao.
Been saying this forever. GMMTV's strategy of SkyNani is to attract both BL audience AND homophobic audience.…
your main comment was completely on point and well spoken. unfortunately the fans of these actors will take any kind of constructive criticism as a personal attack on the actors, even though the complaint was directed strictly at the company.

yeah, you could’ve made your point without the copy and paste cuz everything you just said is not relevant to my comment at all. i never did any whataboutisms, i answered the question that person brought up. this is also an open forum so you can’t really police comments and expect people to stay on topic just cuz it’s your own comment thread. if you’re hoping for a more tailored & monitored discussion, try Reddit.

there are a lot of people who have spoken out about wanting actors ousted from companies when they’ve been exposed for wrongdoings?? the problem is the company doesn’t care. almost every time an event is announced for Foei (granted not bl actor) people complain and want him out, yet he’s still regularly employed. It’s even more difficult with bl actors cuz they’ve built a fan base full of hetero women who dgaf about homophobic remarks or so deeply parasocial that misogyny doesn’t bother them. so when one of them is exposed, they do get people demanding their removal but they also have a lot of supporters backing them. who say people are just jealous of them (sound familiar?)
comparing manga/anime to live action shows is the dumbest take ever
not a single person has ever used shounen-ai when talking about live action media. it’s a term used exclusively for manga/anime. you’re just trying to sound smart by using a different label than bromance but it doesn’t work in this context lmao.
Thank you so much for this comment. I fear when it comes to talks about queer representation, most things other…
bffr the b in lgbtq+ doesn’t stand for bromance. there is no queer representation for friendship bonds because they’re not explicitly queer, stop grasping at straws.
Just saying.
