It was the flashback scene full 3 minutes sequence from the directors interview:

It is a good action drama, and the hero always wins every fight, no matter how many opponents he has to face.
But the glaring overuse of product placement was so annoying to me! Especially the glasses! From Episode 1, we get all these action scenes with the protagonists wearing glasses. Like, WTF?! Are they taking the piss out of people who actually need to wear glasses?
And they weren't even subtle about it. In the last episode, like in every K-drama, they had to acknowledge the sponsors by including an entire scene in a glasses shop. 😂
Please elaborate how the plot is all over the place in your opinion.
The entire story could be over if the MC decided to rebel. Dude is in the capital with his full army. The state is already chaotic, so the consequences of rebellion are literally close to none.
We have already seen that there is literally no one in the capital, at least up to the latest episode, who can stop the MC. Heck, other armies might even join him if he successfully rebels, since at this point all everyone cares about is power and fear, as history has shown.
Also, that idiotic competition makes no sense. The losing side, which is already facing internal issues, is putting forth "conditions" for peace talks to the MC's state. That does not make sense. Out of nowhere, we get their Dowager involved in that BS storyline. The An and Lu families - how does that connect? And now the Grand Tutor is interested in that part after the throne fiasco?
Like, which direction are we going? We have the prince of the previous dynasty with ultimate power roaming around and bossing everyone!
How many storylines do we need? Nothing connects to anything. Well, now they're finally staying true to the title by focusing a little on the "token" part. But even that doesn't make much sense.
FMC's mother's death is another BS scene altogether. Rather than jumping into the carriage and trying to control the "mad" horse, at least pull the leash to turn or something, they're trying to show how strong they are by trying to push the carriage? What type of idiotic writing is that?
This could have been good if it were a novel that covers each plot in detail. This drama format does not suit to this plot at all.
People here are highly focused on romance and feel good. If you think about the plot, it is all over the place! Also, except for like 1-2 female characters, every trope is the same for them!

But still, that much weakness and still on the throne in those ages is just fantasy; a duke or other general can easily take over!
And in that confrontation in the palace during the rebellion, I don't even get why MC backed down!
The way it showed the current emperor/dowager was that weak. My interest in it has declined way too much; it just took away the tension altogether. It did try to focus on the revenge of the army from the start, but meh. The plot kinda got lost to me now.
