For your first question the current king or future king like you said is the little guy Yi Yun and the queen mother is the mother of the little guy whose the current king. The queen mother's husband was the ML's (I An) older brother but he passed away. Leaving the little guy as king but considering the fact that his still young and can't handle the affairs of the Palace the ML is the one who deals with the duties the king was supposed to handle. Unfortunately from how I saw it the queen mother doesn't like him (ML) because in a way he's taking the spotlight away from his son. This is my personal opinion and I think she feels like the ML might want to take the position of the king so she's basically trying to "tame" him or remind him of his place. I just started watching The manipulated. I am still on episode 1, but as soon as I saw the plot it reminded me of Fabricated city. Funny thing though Ji Chang Wook is also the main lead. i can't wait to finish the rest of the episodes to see what they have in store.
