WHAT A BRILLIANT WATCH! I’m really happy with how it ended. I kept wondering, Zhang Hai figured out who the real third culprit was, so why wasn’t he thinking ahead? Why did he keep failing at every turn? Then it hit me! This is closer to reality. Most dramas have leads who outsmart villains at every step, but Zhang Hai stumbled, made mistakes, and still found his way through.
And that final move — deceiving the villain with the actual truth? So satisfying! Honestly, I enjoyed that moment the most.
The fam dinner is a sign of 'calm before the storm' When the couple promise each other to leave together after all this, is when I know something's gonna go terribly wrong...
Ep 31-32, brilliant! My expectations have reached a new level! Better have a banging ending for all the hype they've created around the masked man and the third culprit.
I was not expecting any kisses in this series, but what a pleasant surprise! And the kiss was not disappointing at all for a historical, political revenge drama. I found the bite + kiss intense and romantic. Love 'em!! HaiTu <3
Episodes 29–30 were such a sigh of relief! Zhang Hai and Antu’s love for each other is so deep, it gave me chills. And the queen’s story… I was crying like I’d lost someone in my own life. So many emotions packed into these two episodes — beautiful, heartbreaking, and unforgettable.
Honestly, this has to be one of the best Chinese dramas I’ve ever watched. For me, it’s set a new high bar for what I expect from C-dramas moving forward. The storytelling, the production, the performances — everything came together so perfectly.
27&28! Man, oh man! The drums, the singing, the sword fight, everything was perfect! I wanted ZLY dead, but at…
On a side note, I really appreciate how the night scenes are lit to resemble fire or natural light. In most dramas, it often feels like artificial electric lighting, but here it adds an authentic, immersive atmosphere.
27&28! Man, oh man! The drums, the singing, the sword fight, everything was perfect! I wanted ZLY dead, but at the same time, I felt awful for him. The writers made me question my morals lol. Also, I am very satisfied with the attack on Cao Jiang Xian, carried out with his father's weapon. ZH made good use of the weapon!
My only wish is that it does not have a sad ending. But, the latest trend in really good C-dramas is all about the heart-wrenching endings for the Main leads. huh.. :(
I absolutely love the FL! She is smart, witty and strong! I mean, the number of times she helps him is more than any FL does in all the dramas I've watched so far. She's the embodiment of the saying "behind every successful man, there's a woman." Except that here she's successful and strong first, not behind him by any means, but walks alongside him.
I somehow knew this would have a sad ending from episode 2, but it was still a really good ending. I think they fully lived their lives in those few days together, rather than in their entire lives alone.
