Hiii, I’ve read the book and I can tell you that the meaning of the plot goes way far from just the religion, It’s more about self acceptance than the world around them. They end up together, and for what I understood the book explains how god loves us unconditionally, even the priest tells that to Tanrak at some point. As someone who grew up at a catholic school her whole live and didn’t experience any homophobia I can tell that, as far as I’ve seen in both the book and the series, they handle the plot with a lot of respect. Religion it’s not the problem, it’s more like Tanrak’s fear of what it’s a sin and what it’s not. I’m sorry if I repeated myself a lot, or said something wrong, english it’s not my first language.
