i was debating on whether or not to write my thoughts… because like, who even cares 😭😭 but then again, if you don’t, just don’t read it, right 😭😂
okay - so… the thing is, i preferred the pilot by a big margin 😭 i really didn’t love the changes they made to Ice’s character. before, the character seemed to be a victim of revenge p*rn, which is a very sensitive topic… but it could have been such a good opportunity to raise awareness and inform people about something that still happens way too often. it also could’ve been a chance for real emotional depth and representation. to show how something like that affects a person longterm, how they heal and so on…
now, in the trailer, Ice seems to be an adult content creator? not really sure, but that’s how I saw it. when i watched it, i was surprised at first and then kinda disappointed later on. like firstly: i don’t mind sex workers or anything like that at all. i honestly don’t freaking care what people do with their lives… do what makes you happy and fulfilled ❤️😭 that said though… i think this is definitely something fewer people can relate to.
stil - l think it’s an important topic if they handle it right. sex work is so stigmatized, and there are real challenges that people in that industry face - judgment, shame etc. if they actually explore that side of things and don’t just use it as a character aesthetic, it could still be meaningful.
i guess what i’m saying is… i just hope they keep Ice’s character layered and complex. i don’t want it to turn into something superficial.
but yeah… 😭😂 i’ll still watch it - just hoping they handle it properly even if it wasn’t the initial topic they were going to tackle…
the series isn't out yet but I think the cut version will probably be available on YouTube (without the NC scenes)- at least that's how they did it for pitbabe... and the uncut version will be available on iQIYI <- 31 of october
