You who has read the novel, there’s a question that’s been bugging me and I’m still at the beginning so…
Read with chapter 314-315
Right before their marriage (At coming of age ceremony), the Crown Prince gifts her a pair of sandalwood bracelets that has that exact same scent.
Then she confirms it’s been him all along and rushes to find him. At the same time, he understands that she has now fully uncovered his hidden identity. He then explains everything to her, leaving no room for misunderstanding.
Can you spoil it some more for me, as in why is he gone for 6 years?
He needed time to cure his illness.(He was poisoned as a child)
This novel is ideal for readers like me who enjoy a balanced power dynamic. The male lead may appear gravely ill and incompetent, but that’s a carefully crafted illusion(He was poisoned as a child he really was ill, just not as gravely as he made it seem to the outside world).
In reality, he’s a brilliant strategist with immense battle strength. On the other hand, the female lead is cold, emotionally guarded, and disinterested in love yet highly intelligent and capable.
Also, if I’ve read the novel, I usually never watch the drama adaptation. And that’s a conscious choice. Most adaptations miss what matters the most to me the inner worlds of the characters. Especially in romance stories, the emotional depth comes from understanding their thoughts, their conflicts, and how their feelings evolve. That gets lost when it's just acted out on screen.
I read this novel over 800+ chapters in about 6 days, and I liked it a lot. It’s definitely in my top 7 novels I've read so far. The only thing that disappointed me was the ending. Even though the male lead comes back after being gone for almost 8 years and they get a happy ending, I felt like something was missing. There’s no proper epilogue to show what happens after they reunite. I really wish the author had added an epilogue to show their life together after everything they went through.
