I just personally interpret those relationships less as “women lowering themselves for broken men” and more as stories about emotionally lonely people connecting in imperfect ways during difficult points in their lives. I can see why that wouldn’t work for everyone though, especially if you prefer relationships that feel more equal or aspirational.
