I watched episode 11 yesterday. I really wanted to punch Mr. Li. I was trying to remember where I'd seen him before, and it was in Zang Hai; I didn't like him there either.
The plane sequence was a disaster, and nope it wasn't for comedy, they really made it like that with all seriousness.But…
Yeah, the whole sequence, him on the airstrip, Qingyi arriving at the plane is terrible. The moment they're stuck in the tree, too; it’s wild to think that scene is actually real, but the zoom on their faces and the camera work make it look like CGI. I’ve seen a lot of comments mentioning the improved editing. Let’s see where that takes us.
I’m currently watching Episode 8, but I had to pause and come here to comment on what’s happened so far. Once again, the editing makes the airplane scene look like a fake CGI shot. They really were on that airstrip, and there really was a plane there, but—yet again—even the sky looks fake. The drama has a plot with potential; we’re gradually seeing the dark side of SuSu’s and QinqYi story. However, the way the show started, the editing and camera work, gave it a comedic and dramatic tone that doesn't quite match the actual storyline. I understand moments like Hai Tang throwing herself at Li BoZe—after all, she’s there to draw attention while SuSu does her job. But I think the balance between comedy and drama could be handled more subtly. I’m certain it would be much better received if the tone were more serious, given that the show deals with themes like abuse and human trafficking.
Yeeeah, the flashbacks are good. I really wish they had been the first episodes. Because the way it keeps switching back and forth makes it hard to get attached to the couple—and, of course, it jumps between different editing.
I just finished Episode 6. There are definitely good things and bad things. Sometimes it feels like there were two or three different directors and editors for the drama, haha. I had high expectations, but at the same time, I tried not to expect anything. I still don't know what to think, to be honest.
I’m still going to watch it for ZLH and Churan. Since it’s my first Republican-era drama, I don’t have any point of comparison—it’s all new to me. What bothers me most is the editing and some of the dialogue. I think that, mainly because I saw all during filming, I was expecting something different. I’ve heard so much talk about that scene with the plane. I haven’t even watched the edits yet; I want to be truly impacted when I see the actual episode, haha.
