I agree. Viewers seem more focused on having their favorite actors/actresses and beautiful costumes at the expense…
I’m the same as you. I prefer costume dramas and I agree, it’s a challenge to find a decent and intelligent one these days. I’ve been feeling like my intellect is being insulted lately by the actors and screenwriters.
I didn’t know about the costume issues surrounding Mo Li 😤, it’s one of the dramas I’ve been waiting for the so long. That one and “the prophet” are on my top lists and if the writers mess them up, I’ll riot.
You know what? I’ve noticed that after Covid, the writing and acting of these dramas have going down hill.
what disgusting thing was on the USB. that women should know now what her husband is and she still defends him😬😬.…
Not only did he record but he hid that filthy thing into his child’s trophy!!! The wife is pure evil, nvm that he cheated on her. She’s not mad that he had to take advantage of an intoxicated woman. She doesn’t have a problem with him hiding garbage inside her daughter’s trophy… None of that is an issue for her, she’s out to destroy SiBei. What a sick and evil individual she is.
The actress who plays SiBei’s mom, this is the second time I see her acting. She truly knows how to play the complex characters, she’s not all bad deep down… I’m saying this after watching tomorrow’s teasers.
I braced myself from the start after knowing the person who is playing the mother. This is literally my third…
She and the actress who plays the mom in “something in the rain” are black listed in my head. I don’t care where I’ll see them again, I’ll automatically dislike the characters they play.
thank you for reading and having the same observations. I guess mediocre shows is becoming to be the norm.
Yes, they are. I can count on one hand how many dramas I’ve completed this year. I started many to end up dropping them halfway because the writing would turn idiotic halfway, borderline cartoonish. Smart and strong fl would suddenly turn into idiots, same plot over and over but with different casts that somehow look the same or the script would become boring… it’s unfortunate.
this “have audiences grown too forgiving, choosing to idolize familiar faces rather than demand stronger narratives?” Created this “ Or have writers simply given up trying to challenge us with thought-provoking stories?”
A lot of the new wave of C and K dramas are younger, many couldn’t care less about intricate scripts as long as the actors are “hot looking”. I’ve noticed that many dramas with strong writings but average everyday looking actors don’t get a lot of support. The ones below average writing but good looking cast are accepted.
Similarly, you’ll see this with criminals in dramas. If the criminal is good looking, his crime (like stalking or SA) is more “acceptable”, the audience will find excuses to tolerate it.

- his wife
- that boss or male colleague of his that wears the glasses.
- That female manager!! Omg she pisses me off!
I want them all to suffer. The writers better not serve me the “let’s forgive everyone and move on.” I don’t want that!
Is the city of streamer a happy ending? I can’t handle sadness or open end right now.
We do have the same taste 😃🤝!
“Six Sisters”, I really enjoyed it. It’s lighter than “Marvelous Women” which is also a good historical slice of life with smart business women 😊.
I just started “city of streamer”, on episode 1 but it’s looking very promising.
A few other suggestions , hopefully one catches your interest.
- Destined
- Faithful (historical one)
- A Dream of Splendor
- The Rebel Princess (a bit heavy on politics but good)
- Marvelous Women
- Six Sisters
I knooow 😔, they shouldn’t have postponed it. At least start something, she came all the way and had to endure that humiliation for nothing.
