Exactly š¹ I didnāt want to outrightly say heās not the brightest character because I like to give characters the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully, he improves as the story goes on. And yeah, Iād also be very disappointed if the ending doesnāt deliver, but for now, I do think itās worth watching.
Love Lingling and orm but i just cant watch bc of the mom she just makes my blood boil so bad i hate that i ca't…
Runchās mother dislikes Neen because of how she views their relationship. She believes that because Neen comes from an extremely wealthy family, people will assume everything Runch has achieved was simply handed to her, especially since she works at Neenās uncleās company. But that completely ignores the fact that Runch worked hard for her position and earned her success. She also seems to struggle with the idea of her daughter being with someone she sees as having a higher social standing, because she probably wants Runch to be the person who appears āaboveā in the relationship, at least thatās how I see it. The irony is that this has nothing to do with Neenās actions, but rather her motherās own perception of what their marriage represents.
The entire episode I kept thinking, oh my goodness, youāre really going to take him back, right? I was so conflicted, because people in love are just sooooo⦠but that ācome with me, my loveā? Yeah. Sealed the dealš«
Another year, another Only Friends rerun. And it still hits the same. Before Sand even had the chance to stand he had already fallen. There was no saving him. Sand was already gone. And honestly heās still a personal favorite.
In the scene with Lookplub and Peach, Peach hands her a mug with a camera on it, an obvious merch ad referencing his work as a photographer. If you look at the mug stand in the background, thereās also a mug with a gun on it, which is likely meant to represent Khun Thee. Since Peach has already been shown to be uncomfortable with guns, it feels out of place for that to be in his house. Honestly, it might seem like Iām complaining about nothing, but it doesnāt feel fully thought through. This isnāt on the actors, but on whoever handled the set and prop choices.
I hate the obvious ad, it really cheapen the stories and production. Kinda unrelated but I also felt the same…
Exactly. With the kind of reach they have, they could easily shoot separate content for ads and it wouldnāt make any difference. Instead, it often feels like youāre fully immersed in a serious or emotional scene and then suddenly youāre watching a very obvious product placement. Itās not the presence of ads thatās the issue, itās how abruptly and heavily theyāre inserted. I know this is common in the industry, but it still breaks the tone and pulls you out of the story.
This episode really highlighted how distracting heavy ad placement can be when it isnāt integrated thoughtfully. The show has already established that Peach is uncomfortable with guns, so seeing gun imagery associated with him, even through merch, felt inconsistent and less about the character and more about promotion, as if the placement itself mattered more than whether it made sense within the story. The same issue came up again at the end of the episode. After what was clearly implied to be an intimate night, having Peach wake up the next morning immediately craving cup noodles didnāt make sense and felt like another ad inserted without much consideration for the sceneās emotional flow. Interestingly, the only placement that worked for me was the sulking child and the chips scene, because it actually fit the situation and the characters involved.
This Than character is honestly something else. He really was about to chase a man and leave his niece standing there alone. Some may say he was just excited, but shouldnāt a little child youāve been taking care of for some time now be more important to you? Secondly, the way he called her out for calling him dad in front of the other kids with their own parents, just because he doesnāt want a man to get the wrong idea, was unnecessary. Especially considering her actual dad is dead, that moment must have been hurtful for her. He could have done that later. Finally, he is more focused on this man than on the niece he is supposed to be looking after. Mind you, the man he is paying so much attention to is only focused on his son or what I believe might be his nephew. I am only 22 minutes into episode one, so I cannot say I know the exact details, but these three things really irked me.
The series itself is okay at least, but the character Than, I hope this is not his whole thing.
Three things 1. āI love youā, what? Iām sorry??? 2. āWhen I picture the future, Itās you I seeā ā say psyche right now š¹ 3. I was this close š¤š¼ to feeling bad for his ex, Lu Zhen, then I saw his reaction to that phone call from Fan Xiao⦠wow šš¹
Donāt bother trying to convince someone, who, obviously is not into this type of BL, to keep watching. Itās…
Actually, you do have a point. Iāve asked this before, and I canāt believe I have to repeat itšŖ, but if someone isnāt interested in a particular genre, why do they force themselves to watch it? They end up talking down on a show that many people might genuinely enjoy, simply because it isnāt their preference, and then they write a bad review for something they already knew they wouldnāt like.
Personally, when I watch a show, I go into it with an open mind. If itās not for me, I just drop it. I donāt force myself through it, and I donāt bother talking about it.
Oh, I think you should go watch it again, please. And I mean actually calm down to watch it. We all have our interests, of course, but this is the first time Iāve ever felt compelled to ask someone to give a series a chance.
And also, about the chemistry, no, just no. Did you even watch both episodes? šš
I think you should wait a bit until more episodes are out, and then try watching again.šāāļøšāāļø

Exactly š¹š¤²š» Two months later and Iām back to respond! I finally finished the series, and wowāamazing, really amazing.
I saw a review criticizing Keng and Nampingās acting. Saying āIām shockedā doesnāt even cover how shocked I was š ⦠but itās okay. We all have different tastes, and thatās the beauty of itāwhat doesnāt work for one person can completely work for another. For me, they absolutely brought the characters and story to life.
Thank you this is useful, I have been hesitant to start a domundi production after the last two which have been…
Oh, I totally understand you! Nothing against The Next Prince, but itās safe to say they bit off more than they could chew⦠if you get what I mean. Honestly, you could split that series into five different shows because they tried to cover so much that they ended up losing focus. I expected something a bit different ā they had all the elements, but at some point the plot just got lost. I think I paused around episode 8, and Iāll probably finish it later. So far, it just feels like a lot is happening and yet nothing is really happening at the same time.
But as for this series, you should definitely give it a try when youāre ready. At least for now, theyāre still doing a good job with the world-building, and I hope it only gets better from here.

The storyline and execution just didnāt work for me at all, and honestly, your 1.5 rating feels quite generousšŖ

Also, whyās the rating so low if we all seem to be enjoying the show??
I know itās just a series, but itās still fair to point out when certain things donāt make sense. š«©š«©š«©
