Had I known what I know now before I started it. I probably would have passed as well. However, I got caught up in it as it was happening. It was a full fledged trainwreck of a drama unfolding before my eyes and I couldnt look away. Now I just need closure 😩

He did not date anyone else. He just went back into the friend zone and waited for her. He immediately began to pursue her as soon as she divorced and she still continued to reject him.

He became overtly stalkerish with her. He used his position to make her meet with him. He repeatedly invaded her space and made 1FL extremely uncomfortable around him at times. There were enen times that she appeared to be repulsed by him. However, that in no way kept our childhood friend 1ML from obsessively pursuing his childhood first love (1FL).

She finally caved in after going on a blind date with some other guy that had a crush on 1FL during high school.

Hows that for a messed up romance story?

Major love triangle - The 1FL has a crush on 2ML from the beginning and sleeps with him around episode 25 (gets pregnant), dates 2ml for a little while, and eventually gets married to him - then has his baby - all the while rejecting the 1ML the entire time. The main OTP do not get together until episode 113 after the 1FL finally divorces the 2ML after he repeatedly cheated on her with 2FL and almost caused the 1FL to lose her baby.

Probably so. I think sometimes people need to watch something (other people's drama) that takes them away from the bigger drama of what is going on in their lives. I know that Korea has had enough crazy drama going on in their country during the run of this show that they need something a little less over the top to help get through some really crazy times for their country!

You know, all issues with drama aside, I actually have enjoyed this drama. I think it would have been better if they had not taken the DS and GH story line down the semi-makjang route and stayed true to the slice of life route that the rest of the storyline's followed. There is a reason it has been a highly rated/watched show though!

I think that it may have some lingering side effects It is just another thing that show has dangled before us just to turn out to be not s huge deal or nothing at all. I will be happy if nothing comes of it anyway - It is one of those old school tropes that I really think is so stupid and unnecessary. It is not something that resonates with modern society. Along with the "I need to go abroad for several years to do something I can easily do in Korea" trope, it needs to go away.

I agree. She should have at least been fired. GH was fired being for wrongly accused of what JN actually did. Sometimes drama logic makes no sense!

Yeah, She has just been mainly used for exposition purposes in this drama. She has done a few sneaky things but has been a relatively tame villainess.

Episode 119 Preview (KBS).
Dan-soo congratulates Gong-hee on her promotion and promises to stay by her side no matter what, but an unknown uneasiness is brewing inside her. While Gong-hee is reinstated as head of the new business team, Ji-na is demoted after a design leak is discovered. Outraged, Ji-na confronts Chairman Hwang and asks him about it, but he remains stoic, claiming that he didn't give her any instructions...!

I just dont understand why his wife hasn't kicked him to the curb yet. She has said that she wanted a divorce from him for the past 30 episodes. Dude just keeps coming back and eating their food and using her money to stay drunk. He just goes right into the bedroom where she is and she just lets him. The dude is only good for one thing at this point. Taking a knife to the gut to get rid of the stupid "I cant be with you because my dad killed your dad trope" And it is coming.

Yeah it is just like no matter how far out remote a couple are or even at some random spot in Seoul. The second or first lead seem to just happen to be where they are in order overhear a conversation or witness an interaction. I love it whaen all four of the mains are there and the observers are like within 10 ft of the couple doing whatever & No one even sees the observers. It has always amazed me!

The intent from the writer from the beginning was for the main otp to be comprised of a woman with another man's child getting married to her childhood friend. So that is why we are here now. How we got here thats a whole other story.

DS has the typical K-Drama male childhood first love syndrome - This syndome causes the person to lose all common sense and causes single minded focus on the object of their obsession. It will cause them do and say all kinds of stupid and sometimes totally crazy things.

Along this storyline. DS has always unconditionally loved GH. Unconditionally means with or without a child and whether she has or hasn't done anything for him - ever.

Episode 118 Preview (KBS)

Dan-soo is suspicious of why the strange man in front of Chairman Hwang's house is looking for his grandmother. Myung-ja urges Kyung-tae not to stand in Gong-hee's way and convinces him to keep the long-buried secret under wraps. Meanwhile, Gong-hee's baby clothes design wins the top prize at the Jace Fashion Competition, and as Dan-soo rushes to her in joy, a strange man is arguing with Kyung-tae...!

#1 rated/watched TV show in Korea virtually every day for its entire run.

I think that is why it has come off so disjointed and that 20 episode lag where nothing happend with DS and MK that forced the mini time skip. I think that was a result of changing the initial story line and the MK and GH marriage. I have no idea why they felt it would be better though.

Yeah I dont think it was necessarily the writers intention/decision to go down that road. But there are a lot more people that get involved in how a drama plays out than the writer. I bet some suit/suits from the network felt it would be better for the story to play out that way for ratings. Just my intuition. The writer was very clear about the story she WANTED to tell with GH and DS. However the story she was able to tell played out before our eyes.
