This is a drama with a revenge framework, but its theme isn't really revenge.
1. For a long time, we're not clearly told what the main character (YeLi) experienced that led her for revenge.

2. So far, every revenge YeLi has undertaken has been resolved without us (the audience) being involved, and how she accomplishes it is revealed later.

3. There's never (yet) a monologue about her strong desire for revenge, as is common in revenge dramas.

4. Instead of being heartless and cold-faced, our main character is full of smiles and cheerfulness, demonstrating a difference in the trauma respons than other main characters in general.

5. Rather than satisfying the audience with all the methods and schemes for resolving revenge, we're shown how much our main character suffers from someone else's crimes, leading to the perpetrators having to pay back, but it takes a long time (this feels real, as criminals in high positions in real life never receive retribution or take years to be exposed and punished).

I really love it so far, the team really did a great job. I would love to see how this drama gonna end

I am not even surprised by the comment section. Many people lack the ability to think rationally or to see two…
This drama has a lot of issues that can be raised for discussion, and I'm fine with all the opinions except for those who take the opportunity to trash talk the drama.

Honestly, they make me sick.

You are absolutely right with everything you said but the mental illness also caused some communication breakdown.…
Yes, it's like a root problem that triggers other problems if left unaddressed. Ye Li has a fear of abandonment, Mo Xiuyao has a fear of being deceived.

The mental illness problem hasn't been resolved because it's at the root and buried underground, but the other two most feared problems for them are here now

Exactly!I have noticed this before in various dramas where the audience does not seem to understand that a major…
That's fine. Other viewers might thinking one of them is wrong in this relationship. I enjoy the way they write about their feelings about a character. My opinion isn't fact, and neither is theirs. This drama is so complex that it's easy for viewers to misunderstand.

although the way they say it sometimes frustrates some people, including me haha

lol, finally an adequate comment! MXY really believes that he's doing her a favor by setting her free. He thinks…
Yes, I mean, this drama is so complex that it's easy for viewers to misunderstand. So I get it, but the reason for their divorce isn't as simple as blaming one of them when we look at it from various angles.

Title The First Jasmine Spoiler
You know, what? It's because we have God's perspective that we know everything. Unlike the characters in dramas. Ye Li doesn't know what Mo Xiuyao is going through, and Mo Xiuyao doesn't know what Ye Li is going through. Two wounded people try to heal each other, but in healing, we also want to know how they got hurt.

Mo Xiuyao
From his perspective, Ye Li always smiles when she recounts her happy life at Lishan Academy. The doctor's information about Ye Li makes Mo Xiuyao think she's lonely after living in his residence. This incomplete information creates a major misunderstanding when he learns that Ye Li is repaying her brother, considering how he's watched his wife do so many things (to repay all the debts) and that he's one of them.

In his mind, he's truly grateful but also hurt that Ye Li is struggling for him because of the debt between his brother and her mother. Ye Li, who lives with him, has suffered so much and is struggling, so he thinks she'd be happier if she returned to Lishan Academy and relive the joyful life she always happily described.

YeLi
At the beginning of their marriage, she didn't have any personal objections to marrying Mo Xiuyao because he was her crush. However, she wasn't too hurt by his rejection because her mission came first, and her feelings were secondary. Why? Her mission held a greater weight and responsibility.

If Mo Xiuyao had remained stubborn and rejected her from beginning to end, I'm sure she would have already planned to voluntarily return to Lishan Academy after it was all over. YeLi lives to fulfill other people's dreams and repay others' debts, but there was one thing she did for her own feelings without realizing it: loving and caring for Mo Xiuyao.

Their feelings for each other grew, and Mo Xiuyao, who cared for her began to feel like home to her. His words of "he will always be with her" brought her to tears, which is why she brought home the bell from Lishan Academy, which she initially hung in her shop to keep her company, and now hangs in the Ding residence.

THE Problem
The audience assumes the problem lies in communication or their feelings. They don't have a communication problem; the issues they face are always addressed and explained. Their feelings were as clear as the eye could see.

The problem was, it was YeLi's mental illness that created a new world in which she believed. It wasn't her fault, but it was the cause and needed to be addressed. She wasn't lying, but neither Mo Xiuyao nor YeLi knew about this mental illness, so they didn't understand.

It really took a third person who knew everything and explained the main problem to both of them.

are you referring to this drama jasmine? or something else nothing came up under Mo Li,
Yes. This drama was originally called "Mo Li" before officially being renamed "The First Jasmine" in English nearing its broadcast date. In China, the drama's name remains "Mo Li" because it means the same thing.

This might just be me; I'm used to using the name "Mo Li" instead of "The First Jasmine."

No, he is not dead in novel
I think you misunderstood. I was just explaining that the emperor's character in the novel already existed, not a new character added to the drama.

To make it clearer for @Devil Never Lies, I also provided more details about the emperor's age in the novel, which is significantly different from the drama. In the novel, the emperor is a grown adult or much older than MXY, but in the drama, he is indeed much younger.

No, he is not dead in novel
You're welcome. The emperor is in the novel, he is the same age as Mo Xiuyao. He also has absolute power in his hands so the character that series added is the empress dowager with a complete change in the emperor's image.
