I really liked it. I gave it an 8 because the drama felt a bit too forced for me. It was not the usual kind of drama, it felt like the story was constantly trying to emotionally manipulate the audience into crying. I do not really like that kind of emotional manipulation, but overall I still enjoyed it.
I watched a Ye Xian × Chen Duling edit on XHS and immediately ran here. Which of her dramas would you recommend, besides Ashes to Crown? Their chemistry in that edit was so good. I hope they can work together in future.

perfectly said. sometimes two people are not meant to be each other and every good actions causing bigger dramas without bad intentions, both of them will get hurt at the end. especially fl who already losing her mother.
the political side used to come in after the middle of the novel, but now they’ve put all those heavy topics into the first episodes, which makes me want to skip some of those tax-related scenes.
