I also don't know why people cant get the good things from it...It wasn't totally sad or bad ending...rather it was kind of convincing ending ,not superficial rather being kind of xianxia
For those who are critisizing male lead's appearance...its according too the need of the role...actually xuanye was poor guy who didn't had good clothing and good foods and that's why they made him look like kind of beggar....or else Allen Ren's acting is just of next level every time and there's no doubt in that.
I think ending is not that bad because all of the characters have revived ,isn't this a good thing?? And also they could still meet each other since none of them died.

Because xuanye was the king of demon realm and so he had to return to his realm to serve their people after his father died and same since nobody remembers xuanye now except banxia so banxia could also not just leave her parents alone to go and live with him...they both showed us the truth of life that yes sometimes our personal feeling need to be suppressed for our responsiblities.
