I love everything about this drama. It shows Chinese culture, history, humor, perfection in acting and fantastic OST.

Why shouldn't he? He never meant to hurt anyone and never in his wildest imagination could have imagined that anyone would understand those remarks as racism. So like any decent human being he should apologize for the misunderstanding. But it wasn't a misunderstanding as it was deliberately spread by his haters and WOKE racists.

Only racists see race in everything around them. And what if he said that? Only those who themselves think those people are ugly see racism in what he said. You WOKEs think you are the only ones who have a patent on what others can and cannot say. WOKEs are the worst people on the planet, you are racists, sexists and haters.

"They wouldn't disrespect the person they supposedly care about by forcing any form of physical intimacy. It's 2026!"- If there was a drama set in 2026, I definitely wouldn't accept those scenes.

"Do the directors make him force himself onto women in every role he has? -At least they chose him to do it, not an ugly actor. I think it wasn't about sexuality at all in those scenes but more about the roughness of the relationships and the time they describe.

"I'm tired of purity culture and the harmful belief that a FL should be forced into something sexual because 'good women' don't have sexual desires." - I don't think those scenes were about that. And I'm not saying they should include those scenes in that series, but when they do, I don't understand it the way you do. I can abstract that violence as something that was very normal in ancient China and most of the world.

Tian Xi Wei is a very bad choice for the female lead. Her plastic surgery looks completely out of place in the story. Another actress with a completely normal look (without plastic surgery) would have made the drama a masterpiece. I feel sorry for Zhang Ling He because he had to work for two.

It's a historical drama so back then people didn't have the same view of women. They can't falsify history just because you don't like it.
