Yep, they overused it in this drama. C-ent have so many dramas with ruse trope in the past that I avoid it like a plague now. I don't even watch any drama if the leads pretending to fall in love, feign hate, etc. Ruse is a weak twist.
This drama is sooo good through episode 24. I was eagerly waiting for the climax of Wu Yi and Mao's rivalry, and they execute it by "we were just pretending." It's such a letdown.

Yes, but the hate for Li Mao is so unnecessary, even for the sake of plot twist. I watch too many drama with this pretending trope. I really hope they have a fresh concept here.
They shouldn't have written this plot. An acting within an acting makes the next scenes lose its impact. Now, I don't know when they are acting and when they are being honest. 😕
