its funny to me when they write a “badass” female character and dont properly show how harsh that time period…
I rather enjoy modern Cdramas and can't really stomach the CGI in the costume/historical dramas with them. but I haven't had a good experience with historicals overall.
I'll go with your recommendation, after I finish my currently watch!

That's actually a good analogy, since I dropped Pursuit of Jade midpoint.
I can really say about my taste on historical dramas, since I've been on the modern side, I'm just finding my footing and I haven't really been having a good time.
I've Watched POJ (I dropped at 27), I watched How Dare You!? (I Rated it a 5), I also watched Blossom, which was in fact my first historical/costume drama and I got burned out, bored and decided to never watch another after it, of course I did watch others. (Rated it a 4)
Now I'm at my spring, I've finally found things I seems to enjoy, I Enjoyed Fated Hearts (I rated it a 10) and now I'm enjoying The Prisoner of Beauty.
I'll just say I love watching dramas, due to romance, romance should always be first, court Intrigue and scheming should all be stringed together with the romance arc.
Although I believe imagination is the key, so I read myself blind and let my mind do the budgeting for just how much is can create from the text.

If that balance can be pulled off, I'm game!
