I believe the FL did love him but the writers kept the story line of how their grandmother molded them to be ruthless against men. In the scene where RSB vows to her ancestors in front of her grandmother to not let the ML take advantage of her she is literally crying because she knows that he can't be trusted and they both lie to each other. But after the wedding Arc we don't see the same RSB. The RSB that told her guards to watch over LJL to make sure he wasn't hurt. it's like that version of her disappears and she can only remember what her grandmother told her but in the next episode she defies her grandmother the storyline is written weirdly because she can break her grandmothers rules and disobey her when it comes to her sister but not LJL. I thought she would use her getting kicked out the family to be with who she wants to be but she follows her grandmothers words and holds a grudge against LJL. Forcing him to prove herself to him despite knowing that he stood her up to save a life.
💗Spoilers💗 I thought the ending would have been much better if LJL had accepted himself as the heir, even if it was just to seek revenge. Instead of RSB coming to save him, she could have come because he was accepting wives and she wanted to compete to marry him, just like in the beginning when RSB was accepting a husband and LJL competed. I do not see what was so bad about accepting the throne. He could have easily killed/imprisoned his father and stepmother for revenge, either before or after taking the throne.
This show would have been much better if it were more balanced, but it feels like only RSB gets all the glory. The male lead felt more like a supporting character. Even when LJL is solving crimes, which is his job as an imperial inspector, he constantly gets outshined and outsmarted by RSB. The capital arc and LJL’s family storyline were boring and rushed. I also think it would have been better if he had multiple brothers who fought him for the throne, and his father ultimately saw LJL as the most responsible and worthy of the title. Just like RSB was head of her household in the end.
Lastly, I do not understand why he had to give up his title to be with RSB. She could have easily expanded her business by opening a new tea farm in the capital and letting her sisters manage the other farms. I really wish episode one LJL had stayed until the end.
This drama was okay, not my favorite, but it could have been much better if the ending were different. I agree with most of the comments that after the wedding, it went downhill.

Let me add to this because your making sense. I don't get how the 3 demons who cultivated for 1,000s of years lost to a fight with 2 humans that had powers for 2 months. They were supposedly the strongest in their clan. And it's never revealed to Bing Zhu that his sister used demonic powers to help him in his battles. I believe Hong Ye said your a demon yourself but you persecute demons relentlessly. But in the end when she turns into Pianpian she doesn't seem to have any powers. In the beginning Bing Zhu was okay, I was hoping his story arc went along the lines of by becoming friends with Xiao Yao and Hong Ye he would realize not all demons are bad but instead he becomes a bad demon himself. And Hong Ye should have killed him for killing those 3 demons. I agree Bing Zhu should have locked himself up in that cage since he's so obsessed with saving the world but for some reason in the last 10 minutes of the episode he just wants to be with his sister who shares his girlfriends face. I wish they would of went more into detail about how the Demons were so harsh to humans. Because the Humans work endlessly to kill demons and we don't see much of that in Xiaos memory's.
This was more like a historical comedy/life drama to me. I enjoyed it overall. If you like romance dramas they confess their feelings for each other in episode 11 but they get together officially in episode 36 (slowburn). Their is no love triangle. No huge misunderstanding. ML likes FL and it's obvious but FL reflects/ponders their relationship until the end of the drama (ep 36). The historical plot was really good in my opinion ML faces a lot of troubles but he is able to conquer them successfully. Their is a happy ending. Story doesn't drag but if you are watching it solely for the romance it will feel like a drag because it takes a long time for them to get together. Towards the end the themes change starts off as a romance than historical than life than historical than romance again. The last two episodes are basically a conclusion.
