17y ago, while crown prince and general Xie (ML's dad) were fighting, prince 16 and general meng were supposed to bring supplies and reinforcements. However, prince 16 wanted to attack the enemy against general Meng's advice and got captured. General Meng asked for advice from the emperor since he now needed to go into 2 directions at once.

The emperor sent Wei Yan to general Meng with the tiger tally, but on his way found out the crown princess consort needed help and went back to the capital, leaving Wei Qilin the tiger tally and a letter from him to general Meng informing him of the plan.

General Meng was supposed to rescue prince 16, and Wei Qilin was supposed to ask Changxin to assist crown prince with the supplies and reinforcements.
