In Story of the Kunning Palace he was supposed to be 28ish years old and look strict and formidable due to his position. ZLH was 24 and is younger than Bai Lu (who played a teenager) so he probably was aged up with makeup as well.
He was never relaxed, open and smiling like he is in PoJ.

God I cannot wait for him to start flirting and teasing the FL in this drama!

Do you think ML will bite FL? He seemed to have a kink for that in the novel, one of the commenters even joked that it was because he was born in the year of the dog.

She stabbed him there, not just slapped him. Well deserved imo, even more so in the novel where she was actually pregnant at the time (but did not know it yet)

He was also heavily wounded several times during the winter and now it's only late spring/early summer. His wounds do not have time to heal between assassination attempts and battles, but he puts on his uniform, gets on his horse and soldiers on.

You should, the novel is really fun.

These are mostly people new to Chinese dramas as we cdrama fans do not watch our shows on Netflix. We have subscriptions to iQIYI, Tencent, Youku, Viki etc.
This drama exceeds 100 million views per day on Chinese platforms and so far it has already 1.4 billion views just 12 days in. There are still 14 episodes to go and the plot has not reached its climax yet, so the numbers will keep going up.
A lot of people are waiting for the express package to drop so they can binge watch it.
Whether you like it or not, Pursuit of Jade is a global phenomenon and will break viewership records by the time it has finished airing.

Arsenal Military Academy is the same. Only the people in the military think that Bai Lu's character is a man because they know you need to pass a medical exam to be admitted. So it's a matter of you see what you want to see.
But everyone else is like "they let girls in the academy now? Oh sorry, thought you were a girl" whenever they meet her.

I was thinking more of the Western shows that I grew up with. We didn't have Asian shows on our Eastern European TV networks.

And sometimes even if the screenwriter had an idea where they were going with the plot, the show could get cancelled so you never knew what happened next.

After the marquis reprimands FCY because she went to steal food from the enemy, she has a fight with her husband and although they make up, she tells him she won't be visiting the next few days because she will be busy in the mess and medical tents.

Gongsun explains to XZ that FCY is still mad at him. Together they decide to use chicken blood to pretend that XZ is very very ill and coughs a lot of blood, so FCY will be worried and take care of him. She says she will never leave his side until he gets better. Everyone in the camp says that her husband is on his deathbed (and think they might get a chance with her in the future)

Then they need to get ready for the battle, but FCY thinks her husband is too weak to stand, let alone fight so she drugs him and takes his place on the battlefield.

I like her in Generation to Generation. The show was OK, could have had a better ending.

I'm sorry they cut the chicken blood scenes from the book, they were really funny. I understand we are pressed for time and did not add much value except for comic relief.
All in all, the script preserves the spirit of the novel very well up until now.

As a girl who went to a technical uni and was usually the only girl in the group, men are the worst gossips.

All this complaining about 1 episode per day when it's actually a privilege...
Back in the day, we would have had one episode per week, with hiatus during the holidays. It would have taken almost a year to finish the drama.
There would have been no on-demand videos, rewinds and replays. If you missed it, you had to wait for it to be re-aired in the small hours of the morning.
So let's enjoy the anticipation ☺️
