I'm a bit unsure if he took the dog for 6 years cause he says that San Lai sent the dog to him instead of Jiang Mu because she had just settled back into China. I'm curious whether this means the dog was lost the whole time!

It does seem a little extreme, but when I read the novel, I totally empathised with Jin Zhao leaving her for 6 years (his condition was a fair bit more serious in the novel and he wanted her to go out and experience the world). Maybe because I'm a little older, if I had a younger sibling that was 20 years old, I could see myself wanting them to experience life as a carefree young adult before having to commit to someone for life. But because they changed his condition in the drama, it did seem a bit more unreasonable.

For me till episode 19( before the accident) was great but after the ep 20 it was draggy and felt off , unnecessary…
The drama kept with the main story line of separation for 6 years, but they changed a key thing from the novel - he actually lost one of his legs in the novel - which I always felt made the separation a bit more understandable on Jin Zhao’s side.
@Le2003 - The English translation is pretty good. I couldn’t write Chinese if my life depended on it but can recognise enough characters (and with the help of Google translate when I can’t recognise)

I think the easiest way is to hang out with Chinese people! I’m not sure what country you’re in but that’s how I learnt - I’m in Australia but have some Chinese friends and they’re always chatting away so you learn a lot there (oh and karaoke so you can learn the words/recognise them). Or move to China 🤣

@Momina It was pretty good because I already forgot the details of some of the earlier episodes so it felt quite fresh haha! I’m wondering if I should go and re-read the novel (in Chinese this time). My husband can’t understand the obsession so I can only share here haha
@Momina I have this thing where if I watch a drama and like the actor/actress I then go and watch everything of theirs! HMH has quite a different vibe in Dashing Youth.
Is Idol I Korean? I don't usually watch Korean dramas cause I can't read the subtitles fast enough to watch it on double speed lol
