I just finished it and i interpret the ending differently. I think ZGY didn’t die from CQ sword, he survived…
What made me realize the ZQY did not die was because he was in Ximing as king dealing with the citizens’ complaints…1 girl even wanting to be a general like CQ and him granting permission for her to go the the border where ....

They should have revived ZY's very personal assistant.
They should have made CQ a highly intelligent and formidable female general.
They should have made ZY a genius strategist.
They should have made YX a supervillain who could be loved or hated.
But instead, what happened was:
ZY very personal assistant is dead. CQ became a stupid/moronic general. ZY became an even stupider strategist. ZY became a blind and obsessive lover of CQ.

some defender for this tv show, has spoken, that season 2 has erased tag wuxia, for realistic historical drama, but what i see since eps 1-35, there is no realistic at all with the main characters, especially CQ brain, that .... OMG, how many time i have to double facepalm everytime CQ making so many mistake in almost all eps 1-35..... for god sake, she is the best assassin from qingsan court.
ZY too, in season 1, he is very genius and very logic, but in this season 2..... OMG, so many facepalm i have with him, that he is making so many mistakes, especially in eps 28-33.... !

The storyline maybe will be significantly accelerated, and may even be forced to have a happy ending for all the main characters!
ZY's logic and common sense seem to return to normal in episodes 34-35. If ZY had returned to the Yong Kingdom from the beginning, after being held hostage by the cruel King Ximeng, ZY might have been able to save more of his friends and colleagues from the cruelty of military warfare and palace politics.
Now, this hyper-realistic story has forgotten the fate of the Ximeng Kingdom and Biantang, even though their queens are trapped within the Yong Kingdom, as is the fate of King Ximeng, who has now become one of the Yong Kingdom's high-ranking officials.
CQ is still a fool, trapped and captured by his enemies for the umpteenth time!
CQ has also forgotten all resentment of his Xiuli troops for YX's brutality and is instead constantly hugging YX again.
her brain has been dumbed down by the director since eps 1-30, so she has forgotten about all revenge from xiuly…
i have watch eps 1-35, CQ brain has been too much dumbed down since she fall in the ice lake on eps 1, so the enemy has captured CQ so many times in eps 1-35 !
anyway, is there lot of kiss between FL and ML ?
there is no any characters development in this season 2, from eps 1-39.
