Title Duang with You Spoiler
i guess i'm just wondering what the point was in even including the jamiemarvis storyline in the first place if the writer and director didn't care enough to do it properly. they got all of 5 minutes of screentime altogether, and all of their scenes had a weird, stilted feel to them, like there was something missing. their dialogue was weak, and the scenes were so short that there was basically nothing for the actors to work with, and it shows. we're never given any reason why jamie and marvis should like each other, hell, we barely have any idea who these characters are on their own. their relationship wasn't given any time to build up or develop. we got to see them for maybe 1.5 minutes at a time every two episodes, and half their time was spent with weird, forced dialogue or jamie staring at marvis in silence. ultimately, the actors ended up taking all the heat for the terrible writing and directing choices, even though they were doing the best they could with the hand they'd been dealt. even a veteran actor couldn't have made those scenes work. there was barely anything there, and what was there wasn't good.

they never gave proper exposition to explain why they use a lot of english in their convos, which ended up with people attacking the actors for those lines being "cringe," even though the real problem was that presenting the english dialogue without context (that marvis is from korea and jamie grew up in america) was a poor decision on the part of the writer and director. instead of the show doing its job and filling in that important context, you had fans battling it out in the comment sections to give people an explanation as to WHY the characters use english, because the show failed to provide it, or worse, didn't care enough to.

no proper quality scenes, stiff dialogue, no scenes that allowed them to work their chemistry or show any level of real intimacy, even though their dynamic was friends with benefits who slowly fall for each other. i'm not saying they should have had wall to wall NC scenes, and i understand that they're probably trying to pull a Your Sky and have them wait to kiss until it's their own lead series, but genuinely what is the point in including a FWB storyline if you're not going to depict... any of it at all? even though this show does SO WELL at depicting duang and qin's intimacy whether it's the near-NC scenes, sniff kisses, cuddling, hugs, even just touching hands, the writer had absolutely NONE of that consideration for the jamiemarvis storyline. why??

that's my biggest question about this whole thing. why??? why even include their storyline if they were just going to do this? i love duangqin, but there were so many montages and filler scenes that could have been cut to make enough room to give the jamiemarvis storyline a proper shot. hell, the episodes could have been just like, 10 minutes longer to create more room. they brought marvis in in episode 4, and had 8 episodes to develop anything resembling a second lead ship, and they didn't do any of it. genuinely what was the point? if they were going to half ass it this bad, they would have been better off just cutting it out and having jamie fly solo.

i was really hoping that they were saving the bulk of their story for the finale, and then they'd finally come correct, but that was my bad for thinking that. i was looking forward to so many moments, and in the end, they all got cut and their characters got completely left in the dirt. it's a real shame. i get that people are saying they think DMD is saving their on-screen firsts for their own series, but in order to build up audience interest in northotto as a pairing to the point that people will want to watch their own series, they needed to have been given a proper shot to prove themselves here, and they didn't get that.

and don't even get me started with pae. what was the point in having all these little clues about how he was always running off and texting some mysterious person just for that to go... also nowhere? genuinely what were the writers thinking? if they didn't have any interest in developing anyone outside of duang and qin, they should have just made that decision with their chest instead of phoning the supporting characters' stories in this badly.
