I thought about this episodes ago. She always said she did all those chores alone and was super evasive about saying more. She said she learned playing chess alone, playing with herself, and when asked why, she invented an excuse. The monkeys going into a space with so many humans is raising an eyebrow too. Even her diligently doing things people from the mountain asked of her felt like she was on a life or death quest. She is strong and yet having all these hallucinations clearly shows what happened on the mountain is way more than she ever admits.

Yess exactly. Situ Ling honestly became one of my favorite characters together with Ji Bozai. He has so much depth and he’s not just a villain for the sake of being a villain. You can actually see how all that pain, humiliation, and helplessness slowly broke him.
The actor did such a good job with him too. He made Situ Ling feel so tragic and intense, and honestly he’s the type of villain I can definitely understand and even root for.
