Yes, he was smiling. He might have been trying to make the best of the situation. Base on what the 1st wife said, at that time the Lin family needed that marriage to save their family. Otherwise they might have ended up like the Shen family.

Was that in the first 4 episodes? I only remember the bride (1st wife) tripped and almost fell during the wedding. He caught her. At the same time they showed the FL tripping and falling. No one there to catch her, support her. 😭

I don't think they met when they were younger. When in the carriage the mom said the Lin family will come over so they can meet. But I do believe he had her family's remains buried. He has a sense of responsibility and guilt.

The ML is not sleeping with other woman in the drama. His marriage was never consummated. You will find that out later. There are other women who are interested in him, but he is only interested in the FL.
