So, I don't want to be mean, but… this drama is kind of drama for the sake of drama… the script is very poorly…
If you are expecting something different from these characters, then I’m sorry, but you’re not going to get it. Pio’s character is supposed to be like this: hugely insecure, desperate for approval, dedicated to the piano but not really possessing much musicality himself. And he is like this because he is a reflection of the two other characters you also criticized: his mother and father.

Surprisingly (to you), some people simply aren’t emotionally attached to one another, and they learn to be that way from their families.

Also, Pio wasn’t looking for Jeongyo for ten years. He started looking for him five years before 2026, so in 2021, basically because he wanted to know what had happened to him. Because, seemingly surprisingly (again, to you), when people “disappear” without any explanation, the people in their lives don’t simply move on. They may believe almost anything just to get some closure, and that’s what Pio did.

As for the probability of Jeongyo actually becoming an orchestra conductor, I’m sorry, but if you were paying attention, this is the LEAST surprising thing about him after surviving a gunshot. He is described as a musical genius, and I’m not sure how unaware of this fact you are, but there aren’t exactly many people who are described that way.
