That’s why she thought it was something worth bragging about and mentioning on the talk show for her first-ever lead drama. If she hadn’t benefited from it, she probably wouldn’t have talked about it on TV. I don’t think people would have found out anyway. If they found out on their own, it probably wouldn’t have become this bad (because there wouldn’t have been any bragging from her). Her agency initially denied it, then later confirmed it, which made the situation worse.

It’s not her fault, but I just wish she had kept quiet about the “fourth generation of doctors” thing because it came across as if she was bragging about it, while there are still victims affected by her great-grandfather’s and grandfather’s actions. In my opinion, this probably wouldn’t have become an issue if she hadn’t revealed it.
They asked a question. What would you do? Ignore it? Then she would be dragged for that.
She could have answered it vaguely “My parents/my father is a doctor.” That’s enough, only generation she need to focus on. In my opinion, she unnecessarily bragged about it. She or her agency might have thought it was a good pr move (since doctors are highly respected in Korea).
I’m not blaming her for something her ancestors did, but she kinda dug her own grave by bragging about being the fourth generation of doctors on a talk show while promoting her first lead role drama. That led people to dig into her family background and discover her ancestors’ past. No one would have found out if she hadn’t brought it up, since Koreans generally prefer to keep family backgrounds private. It was a wrong move.
Look. I love female-centric dramas like The Story of Ming Lan, A Dream of Splendor, Lost You Forever, etc., which were properly and heavily promoted as female-centric from the very beginning. A female-centric novel doesn’t automatically mean the drama adaptation will end up being female-centric too.
Don’t promote it as a both leads-centered drama in the synopsis, trailers, billing, etc., if they can’t deliver what they claimed. It’s basically cheating the viewers and showing no respect for them. We are not fools.

It's unique for me to see ML character who is not a prince, general, from a royal family, or from a rich family, and who doesn't have a hidden identity or a powerful background in historical c-drama.

I think it’s the other way around. Why isn’t Toto respecting Kanit’s own decision? He’s not ready to date anyone or be someone’s boyfriend right now, it’s just not the right time for him. He’s still heartbroken from a recent breakup and wants to enjoy being single and casually flirting with new guy at the bar. But Toto doesn’t seem to accept no as a no.
