In the novel Qingyuan's dad had a principle wife and 4 concubines. The eldest young lady was daughter of noble concubine Lian. Also there were concubine Mei who had two sons , concubine Xia who is murdered, and Qingyuan's mother. In the novel eldest young lady later become great friend of Qingyuan.
