The open ending delivers -The Promise of Permanent Reunion
1st: Coma During the final battle to stop the primary antagonist, Murong Qingyi gets trapped inside the burning water plant. He is critically injured when he sees His late brothers (Qingyu,Li Boze), ye zhi and Li Rongzhang appearing with smile on their faces and he hears “You brat, what are you waiting for? Stand up. Hurry now, stand up. Susu and Le'an are waiting for you.” They dont say '' Welcome Qingyi we came to bring you with us" The Coma Dream (The "IF" Illusion)While Qingyi is fighting for his life in the hospital, his subconscious creates a beautiful, bittersweet dream world. And he wakes up from the coma to reunite with susu and his son .
2nd: (The Letter) Susu's Final Promise: The series concludes with a devastating scene of Ren Susu running through the streets clutching his letter, crying uncontrollably, and kneeling on the pavement to scream, "This time, it's my turn to wait for you." Su su is left as the sole survivor, taking little Le'an away to the South to raise him alone. She raises Le an and dies in old age waiting for Qingyi. In after life Murong Qingyi and Ren Susu are reunited and happy with other deceased family members ( Le an is missing coz he is still alive) attends the wedding then runs hand in hand to board a moving train. They are sitting closely together, Qingyi holds Susu's hand tightly looking out the window at the passing scenery.
3rd: Parallel Universe with earlier timeline He dies even after his family motivates him to go back to his wife and son . But enters into a parallel reality in earlier timeline where everyone are happy and alive. He is a doctor and she is a painter like before the tragedy strikes after attending his brothers wedding boards a train and he refuses to leave her hand stating he don't want to loose her .
You can imagine many more possible outcomes to suit your taste but it actually ends with the message that , They will be together in all possible outcomes . In the letter he says if i dont return live well and he asks will she wait for him? and for the first time in the entire drama our The Ironclad Fortress known as Susu promisses to wait for him while breaking down in tears so it confirms she will reunite with qingyi, because when our girl plots something she gets it done , she will call her underground committee, would plan step by step action ,while sitting with a poker face and drinking tea she gets it done🤣🤣🤣🤣in this drama who all tried to outsmart her ends up dead so don't be depressed and have fun.
