This is a great show!! I'm sure the negative reviews and comments are coming from fans of modern drama who expect a historical drama to end like a modern cheesy romance drama!
Kudos to all the actors in this show. My only issue is that the last 5 episodes should have been made to be more than 10 episodes so that the princess could have stayed more with her people and the war scenes better planned.
Ying Gua! What an emperor! I loved the fact he was a ML who did not do everything to please the FL. I loved how he chose The great Ning over her being his empress! I love how Meng Ting Hui fought for the freedom of Zhongwan. She's smart. She knew they cannot overcome Da Ning.
Considering a lot of dramas i have dropped after barely 4 episodes, i rate this drama a decent 8.9/ 10.
Its not without its faults, didnt like the make up and costume in some scenes, I did not like how the emperor barely had maid servants or consorts at that age when you rememberthat this is a chinese historical drama where the king has consorts very early.
I did not like how he seemed to obviously favor her. I thought he would be married to hide his affection towards FL based on the synopsis. However, overall the casts were amazing! The side characters were enjoyable. I typically do not appreciate side characters or romance but Fu Zhi and Shen Zishu, Zhi Li and Nian were so amazing!

He is so good. He is one Chinese actor I have watched over 4 of his dramas. Go Ahead (damn he killed it there), Find Yourself (acting with a much older woman yet he was a natural), Everlasting Longing with Angelababy, Shine on me. I love his dramas. Yes he is good looking but his acting is amazing for me. I wouldn't watch 5 dramas if only the guy is good looking.
That scene where Chen Yi said a prayer of Thanksgiving that his wishes for her to top the list were granted!!! Absolute perfection. I felt in that scene that if Miao Jing had any doubt he still loved her, it was dispelled in that scene.

Okay. I have not seen the drama. Sometimes the leads or the plot determines if i can watch a drama. For instance i cant stand Esther Yu and Ren Min's childish voice and acting, so i avoid their dramas
Ep 11. She tried to kiss him after luring him to her room by posting online that she's scared of the storm. However Chen Yi stops when she leans in to kiss him. This girl boldly says why is he saying no. I love her character. So unlike many Cdrama FLs that can be 35 but act like an 8 year old or a stone when a man kisses them
One comment I haven't seen anyone mentioning is how finally a woman is not scared or acting like an innocent girl or standing still like a stone when shes kissed in a Cdrama.
ZJY doesnt hide that she wanted to kiss him in their first kiss and their second almost kiss. This is a breathe of fresh air in Cdrama
8 episodes in and this drama is officially amongst the best I have seen! SWL teuly shines in all his roles. There is nothing i like more than a story that captivates me with the first 15 minutes of the 1st episode. Perfect casting choice
