as much as I hate dan I have to say he had a sad back story overall. he lost his family and when he saw LJ's family facing crisis, he turned all his anger towards BJ coz he didn't want the same sad thing happening to LJ his unrequited love. Kinda sad we didn't get to see BJ's harvard back story tho
