After completing my 3rd rewatch of Season 1, I finally bit the bullet & finished the remaining 5 chapters of the novel I've been holding off just to have a little piece of Xiang Liu left in my memory, spoilers π
That was the most "non-ending" ending I have ever encountered in a drama. Felt like a slap in the face after all…
ISTG I don't understand viewers who said GSJ & SGQ stole the show, like did we watch the same drama? SGQ was so infuriating I started to ffw her scenes in the last 3 episodes, she was just a dirtbag through and through
GSJ & GYZ got on my last nerve, not even for their gray shady characters (trust me I love anti-heroes) but their treatment of GZY was just horrible , if it weren't for the last 2/3 episodes, I'd probably detest them in every drama they appear in, I ended up appreciating their strong characters so much and I'd probably rewatch just to enjoy them in their roles abit more
As for the ending, I LOVED it, I wouldn't have it any other way
Arrgghh this drama is a masterpiece, as a Wuxia addict that I am I was so blown away with the complex characters and unique fighting styles
I absolutely adored GZY & YWS in their roles, they were the light of this drama, their chemistry, the love & support, I for one thought GZY was such a smart, capable leader, I swear I wanna throw hands on those critics who had horrible things to say about him ππ
YWS was such a smart, strong FL, somehow I feel like she was secretly a Mei, she always had the upper hand over SGQ, even when it looked like she was cornered, she always had SGQ doing exactly what she wanted her to do, she was such an interesting and refreshing FL to the very end
I was literally boiling with rage everytime GSJ & GYZ appeared on the screen, their disdain and utter disregard for GZY made me wanna wring their necks, but by the final episodes I got to appreciate their characters and even grew a a soft spot for them, I didn't care for SGQ or her breathy voice and absolutely did not find anything shippable btw her & GSJ, the best part of this drama for me remained the ML & FL
I also loved the loyalty of the Gong family, they might have many subsets, different parents but at the end of the day family is family for them and this is one of the major themes I love about Wuxia dramas.
Also can I mention how much I loved the ending? It was absolutely perfect , I think many viewers always want rainbows & sunshine at the end, but that wouldn't exactly be realistic as this is a relatively dark, complex drama and not romance
I've only ever re-watched 2 dramas, EVER, and I've seen quite a number of Cdramas, but LYF is where I have experienced intense addiction, not even MLC withdrawal was this bad π
I've tried starting other Xianxia/fantasy dramas but only ended up even more frustrated
I started to hear the OSTs in my dreams, found myself humming along on more than one occasion, I'm not ashamed to say I had to give in and begin a re-watch because I was beginning to act like a crack addict
Ahahahaha wow, you are a fierce one! Have you gotten enough sleep now? As for recommendations, my comfort watch…
I totally understand, it's not a typical drama, so at some point you begin to love the characters you initially didn't care for, it was love at first sight for me, even though I fond of every one of the MLs, they complement one another
Guys you know one thing that absolutely BLEW my mind? XiaoYao was every bit as crazy as XL was, giving into his desires without hesitating , enjoying his company, actually building a meaningful relationship with him that came from a place of mutual understanding , not like those typical boring Cdrama fls that would probably make a big deal of it or try to "change" him, leaving you with a washed up, "has-been" anti-hero
Ahahahaha wow, you are a fierce one! Have you gotten enough sleep now? As for recommendations, my comfort watch…
There was something about his entrance in every scene that seemed almost electric, he'd have you watching his every move just to not miss a second of his presence, I'm ashamed of how many times I had to rewind some of his scenes π€
Enough of the goody two shoes characters already, we need more mean, sexy vamps please
Ahahahaha wow, you are a fierce one! Have you gotten enough sleep now? As for recommendations, my comfort watch…
We are totally twinsies on that, my mouth literally fell open when I saw that, you know how rare it is to see stuff like that on heavily censored C-dramas? For a moment there I thought I was watching Vampire Diaries or something π€
That's why I love LYF so freaking much, it's not the usual boring stuff we're used to
I am rewatching it at the moment and I will probably read the book next. What did you like about this? Because…
Initially, I wanted to write a review but the more I write the more I want to point out , alot of factors fascinated me in this series tbh
1. The reverse harem & how Xiaoyao actually grew a relationship with every ML individually, I really hate it when a show is tagged as RH but the FL is so stuck up that every other character apart from the ML feel like puppets thrown in for amusement
2. I love that she knew when to be strong and even in her weakness she was never annoying or whiny
3. I like that she, all the MLs and even the supporting characters weren't made out to be self righteous, their characters were well fleshed out, the good & the bad altogether
4. I loved that every ML represented a special kind of love that felt like all 3 or 4 of them complemented one another in her life appropriately. I tend to lean towards the bad guy so obviously XL mesmerized me but so also did CX, TSJ and FL, somehow they felt like puzzle pieces that fit so perfectly together
I could ramble on & write for days things that fascinated me, I think I'll stop here hehe π

All seen, TTEOTM was my best ever Xianxia but LYF is threatening that spot atm
I have a thing for bad boys & anti-heroes the badder & meaner the better (yes, call it a kink idgaf π) that's why I enjoyed L&P so much, and that's why I immediately fell for XL without a second thought when he popped up on my screen. I was legit ready to fight everyone who labeled him "toxic"
Idek how people could find the blood sucking off-putting, for someone who has spent alot of time reading supernatural romance, seeing a vampire pop up in a Cdrama is literally a dream come true lol
If I had known I'd be this devastated after completing this I'd have watched it slower, take my time and savor it like fine wine
I saw this in 2 days, with less than 8 hours of sleep but it was worth it
Now I've seen all the Hi6 episodes, replayed all OSTs, literally grabbing at anything that could keep me longer in this LYF worldππππ
Can anyone recommend anything as enjoyable as this? And I don't mean those weird Recommendations, idek who recommended those, wth is Go Ahead even there? 2 completely opposite genres πππ

Solid 10/10
I tried to move on with a drama that ended up annoying me & boring me to tears for the past 5 days (SOYP ππ©)
I've tried starting other Xianxia/fantasy dramas but only ended up even more frustrated
I started to hear the OSTs in my dreams, found myself humming along on more than one occasion, I'm not ashamed to say I had to give in and begin a re-watch because I was beginning to act like a crack addict
If you're scrolling through the comments trying to decide whether to watch this or not, I'd say watch it IMMEDIATELY but be ready for every other drama to feel like π©
Looking forward to breaking through 10k watchers soon π
