How DARE they tamper with the ratings AGAIN?!!? Been pissed enough that it was unfairly dropped from 9.0 to 8.9 but 8.8 is diabolical, this should be a 9.5 wtf??
Nothing in this genre is touching The Double and I mean NOTHING in this entire 2024, everything else is overhyped
I avoided this comment section like a plague cause I didn't want to get spoiled on the ending, just finished and I don't have the right words yet to describe the masterpiece this drama is.
I hurt all over, but I'm happy I experienced FOF, one of the very few 10/10 dramas of this year for me
The cast were amazing, the OSTs are pure art, you just know alot of work was put into every single one
There must be something GJM is doing right cause I loved MJTY this deeply and even re-watched recently and I'm looking forward to his next one already
As the year wraps up soon, I want to thank God, 2024 and Youku for bringing me the masterpiece called The Double, as I sit playing my fave OSTs and contemplating my millionth rewatch 🤕, I'm compelled to write a few things The Double taught me
1. No matter how unhinged, evil and outrightly vile a person could be, with the right OSTs and backstory there'd be people who support and stand by them ( " Aww Princess Wanning is so pitiful too" "Shen Yu Rong still loves FangFei, he was just forced to kill her😭")
2. Behind every piece-of-shit lover like SYR there'd be a smoking hot alpha king like Duke Su to sweep you off your feet 😍, don't give up on love yet! Lol
3. If you've tried and failed to kill your wife like the spineless coward you are, well keep it moving when she re-surfaces, don't have the guts to look tortured or even get jealous when she moves on to said smoking hot alpha king, it's common sense ugh 🙄
This is one hell of a busy month so many dramas to watch😩, but I caught up overnight on the episodes, this is outrageously funny, Esther is super cute 🤗 I nearly died laughing in Episode 2 😂, LY & MS fighting for MYs attention was a riot.
This is the perfect fun watch to accompany the more emotionally charged TSOPG
Lu Si is an absolute goddess in this series she never disappoints and LYN is as hot as always, perfectly cast as the big bad ML. The first episode hooked me completely, looking forward to the rest
This drama opened my eyes to Neo Hou's talent, loved him in IAN but this is the first drama with him as ML that I'm eating up like an addict (I haven't liked any of his other dramas so far, definitely not for lack of trying )
Also I wasn't aware of Chen Du Ling's game because she's got this aura that I never noticed before plus sizzling chemistry with Neo, I didn't even think that was possible but damn I love their banter and flirting, it's so wholesome
The entire cast is so well put together, I love the dynamics of their motley crew and just spent hours watching the bts scenes especially the dance at the end credits (if you haven't please watch Cheng Lei practice, I nearly died laughing 😂)
I am enjoying this drama way too much for my own good

I put this on hold since Episode 13 hoping to give myself a treat when express is released but....
Lol why does the show feel so different? And what the hell are they doing in that village? I HATED every minute of it, The Double managed to make me breathless with only WORDS but something about the whole "romance on the farm" arc leaves a bad taste
Also why doesn't MRJH have an advantage in like ANYTHING, the Clown Prince is feeling pretty invincible right now, and I now have a burning hatred for Baron Chen whom I used to adore? Where is the maniac MRJH that stole my heart? I didn't sign up for this obedient goody two shoes obedient prince, where's the Shadow Works? Ughh
Luo Mei is looking like the million fillers in her face won't let her speak? She's had the exact same expression since the show started, I used to like her but wow how much I despise her character now. Why will she a GENERAL who's fought numerous battles be taken down so easily by INCENSE? Liu Tao as the General in Nirvana in Fire acted impeccably and even put up a fight like the General she's supposed to be but Luo Mei fell like a rag doll ughh 🙄
Lol this was not how it was supposed to be with this show 😭, never thought I could watch this on 2x speed but that's exactly what I'm doing rn. I wasn't even excited when they resurfaced on CPs wedding day, maybe keeping this on pause since Episode 13 wasn't such a good idea?
Plus what's with the Woo Woo Voodoo Kunlun thing going on in Xiyan? I honestly HATE everything that has to do with Xiyan atp
Why is Meilin in a garden hugging MRJH happily, where's the revenge driven assassin I started this drama with? She's meant to be at the forefront delivering merciless justice
Also what kind of heartless father is this Emperor, I honestly thought he had some cards up his sleeves but seems he's more interested in pleasing his child bride than leading the country?
Feels like the writers got together snorted arsenic and just went off to La La Land
Rant part 2 incoming as I get to Episode 20, honestly atp I'm not excited to see anything here again, but I'll press on for WJY & LXY

The last episode was so wholesome and satisfying, I actually cried having to say goodbye to these amazing characters 🥺
