It's cute but sadly not as much screentime as we might have wanted.
Yeah, it's a bit repetitive in the first few episodes but it gets better after ep. 6. Maybe the humour is not your style?

Not everything is racist, but Japan isn't exactly a progressive society with a lot of regard for minorities and immigrants. I didn't know about the Japanese tradition with watermelons, so that was a mistake on my part, but I tend to be sensitive whenever a drama or Asian movie has minority characters bc historically, their depictions in East Asian media... Has not been great.
