i skipped to the ending before i watched the movie so the ending didn't disappoint me so much. however, it's really was WDF? the ML was such a good leader and then passed the throne to someone else and he could have died. i wonder if the book was written this way. if it did, then the book failed too. LOL luckily I like Leon Lai so i'm not too offended by the ending.

LOL he's not in his mid 20s. it's messed up or not is based on perspective. to them back then,it's normal. otherwise kings in their 60s wouldn't marry someone in their teens. Sorry, I meant to say One and Only. There is one scene where FL called ML old and ML replied that she called him old, yet he's not even 10 years older than her. in one and only, ML is an adult and FL is supposed to be 14 or something when she met him right? i think she lived at his house for 10 years or so then they died. i'm not sure the age gap between them in one and only. I believe she was past 20 when she died. like 24 or something because she was supposed to be married when she's 20, but they called off the wedding and she spent a year or 2 without post her engagement right?
in pearl eclipse, i had a feeling FL liked ML when she first saw him, maybe it's not love, but it's some sort of good feeling. does ML teach her or he just gives her books to read? i don't know. i don't see any difference between this movie and one and only in terms of relationship and age gap. Due to only 7 years difference, if she had called him "brother" instead of "shifu" and even if he had taken care of her, i dont see anything wrong with it. its like a older god brother taking care of you.

if you don't like the storyline then don't watch it. you forget this is an ancient drama where females can be married as young as 14 not 18 like the legal age now a days and they don't always marry someone their own age.

people in china are doctors so early. in usa it's 4 year bach, 4 year med school, then you have 2 year residency for regular doctor and then 4+ years or more to get their specialty. in china, from what i see in many movies, all these doctors has years and years of experience and all under 30.
