In the novel, He Yan gets exposed in the court and when officials get upset and start petitioning the emperor for punishment we find out that in order to protect He Yan from the fact that she joins the army under a different gender, Xiao Jue tells the emperor beforehand that he brought his fiancé (He Yan) along with him to his garrison as he couldn’t bear to part from her. Emperor in the novel is described as a ‘romantic at heart’ so he grants the marriage between Xiao Jue and He Yan. He Yan is totally surprised and caught off guard!

So in the novel she was reborn in a different body right? So since she wasn’t a general, emperor didn’t give them trouble for their wedding. But I wonder how they will show this on the show? Since she will likely reclaim her title and army, wouldn’t two generals getting together make them too powerful? All the chinese emperors in the shows are paranoid of their generals getting too powerful right?

I don’t see why people are so upset about her cooking or seeing for him…. People are not black and white. They can be both heroic in the battle field and domestic in their house!

If this was a western show I would agree with you but it is not. It is a show from a different country with different cultural norms. People should stop trying to turn asian dramas into western shows. Some of us watch these shows because they can be enjoyed as a family without those scenes….

No I agree with you that the noble self sacrificing is an idiotic trope and I complain about it myself. I meant the rants about no kissing and skin ship…I mean this is not a western show

Genuine question, why is it that in all the drama forum discussions people are always desperate for kisses and skinship between the leads? That should not define a relationship, especially a relationship in a historical asian drama….

When I first watched the drama there was post credit ending scene of the 2 leads in a field of red flowers after their presumed marriage but now it's been cut it looks like. Any one knows why or where I can watch this clip?

I don't think that’s a second wedding. It seems more like a ceremony where they are paying respects to their ancestors or their coronation since they become emperor and empress at the end of the novel

In the book she was betrothed to Wei Shao. Here she was betrothed to his brother. FL and her maids don’t know that and they are assuming that she was betrothed to WS

At that point even though everyone knew that Zheng Shu did it there was no proof since she was killed. No one was allowed to leave so Yu Lou went to mom and told her Wei Shao needed to find the culprit. Mom went to give evidence that Zheng Shu did everything and the only way to do that was to reveal that she kinda corroborated with her

They kept the name but changed his father to fit into the drama script I guess?
