Not at all overrated

At first I was hesitant to watch this film because of it was based on a true story about the civil war that took place in Somalia; South Korea has had multiple issues with portraying foreign cultures after all. So hearing about this movie's plot taking place in a real historical event, though I am not part of that culture, made me uneasy. But because it got high ratings and awards, I gave in to my curiosity and gave it a go. From my observation, the film mainly focused on the 2 Korean embassies (as the title says) escaping from Mogadishu and barely touched on the details of the war going on around them.

Acting was SUPERB, as expected from top actors, Zo Insung, Kim Yoonseok, and Heo Joonho. I didn't know Koo Kyohwan was in this until I saw him in the film which was a pleasant surprise as he's becoming one of my new favorite actors after watching him in D.P.

Overall, it was a really touching story of how the 2 Koreas managed to put aside their political differences to survive together through the chaos. It actually reminded me of the movie Joint Security Area. Regardless of where you're from, this film will definitely make you strongly wish for reunification between North and South Korea.

I'm still curious, though, if they accurately presented the war. I kind of hoped that they showed more of the innocent Somali people who, like the Korean characters, were also victims and also desperately tried to escape. For those who know more about the real event and have seen the movie, please let me know in the comments if there were any inaccuracies. Thanks!

One of the most frustrating thrillers I've ever seen

Midnight is basically a really draggy cat and mouse chase film with all the mice sharing one brain cell.

At first I thought this film would be similar to Blind, an iconic thriller which was also about a disabled female lead being chased by a psychopath after witnessing a murder. But I realized after watching that comparing the two was an insult to Blind.

Every single character was dumb and had almost 0 common sense (especially the cops). I had hopes for the female lead's mom as she was good at reading people but in the end, she disappointed me as well.

Overall, Midnight felt like it was written by a thriller rookie who did not do their research on crime and just decided to recycle bits and pieces of movies of similar concept.

**SPOILERS**

what kind of person thinks that telling a psychopath your dreams and goals in life would actually make him feel bad and not kill you lol also PTSD doesn't exist here apparently.

Gonjiam but with a psychic trapped inside

Unoriginal, almost effortless visuals, just your typical pale gray black-eyed long-haired ghosts giving their victims spine-tingling back and shoulder massages. Plot-wise, the only unique concept was the psychic being able to time travel through the haunting events of the center and being able to exorcise the victims of that time frame. But most of it was much like Gonjiam with a boss ghost and your occasional possessions here and there. It was predictable despite its inception-esque concept and honestly a bit boring for my taste.

Predictable but good enough to watch at least once

Show Me The Ghost wasn't as scary as I expected, maybe because it was mostly a comedy movie (MDL didn't even put a horror tag in this haha). It was funnier than it was scary, in my opinion. If I wasn't an avid fan of horror and mystery films, I probably wouldn't have expected the "twist" about the ghost haunting their house which was obviously recycled from other horror films. Still, it was a fun movie to watch overall and a good one to see when you're absolutely bored or craving for a horror film that won't keep you up at night thinking there's a ghost lurking under your bed.

A thriller movie without any thrills.

I was excited to see Lee Si Eon finally take the lead role but unfortunately his promising acting skills couldn't cover up the horrid script-writing. "Killed My Wife" was slow-paced, boring and overall mediocre. Worst of all, the ending made me regret starting the movie. It was as if the writer couldn't be bothered to finish the script so they just threw in whatever idea they had into the ending scene. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. If you're looking for a much better film with a similar concept, I highly suggest watching "The Vanished" instead

Mad Max meets zombies

I had high expectations for this movie considering how its former film was THE movie everyone raved about during its time but sadly, I was disappointed. The story was pretty basic tho they had the creative freedom to make a post-apocalyptic world into something completely out of the box. For some reason they focused a lot more on car chasing instead of re-writing a better story for it. They obviously tried to get the audience to empathize with the characters to break their hearts when they die like what they did with the first movie but since it was so predictable, it didn't have much impact. The acting and editing was spot on but the rest was just meh. I'd rather watch Train to Busan again than rewatch this.

Above average comedy drama film

Overall it was a pretty okay movie, nothing outstanding, in my opinion. I haven't seen the original "The Last Ride" but this was quite similar with KBS drama special, "My Friend is Still Alive" which I think was better story-wise. "The Last Wish" definitely won points for great, non-cringy comedy but the characters failed to grow on me -- which is probably why I didn't cry at the end when I thought I would.
|SPOILER AHEAD|
One thing that truly disappointed me though was the superficial scene with Si Ma Gang losing weight and willing to do 'almost' everything for Xu Hao who only liked her back after her transformation.
