Of the two second gen Ultraman shows I finished (Max and Cosmos), this is easily my favorite. It stayed true to its mission statement of showcasing Ultraman as a hero who saves all lives, and that includes the monsters it faced. The series showcased that there will, and will always be another way to defeat monsters and that not all battles will end with a big fiery explosion. Sometimes, it ends in kindness. For 65 episodes, it showed us the bond between humans and monsters, with the show treating monsters like any other sentient being living on Earth. If we take care of them, they will care for us in return. It's a beautiful thing that the series gets across.
Ultraman Cosmos is a gentle hero and in hindsight, we know that this series is not Musashi and Cosmos' final adventure together as they appear in two sequel movies and later entries in the Ultraman series. So for now, farewell to the hero of kindness, Ultraman Cosmos. I will get into the sequel movies first.
