My speculation of the story from the previews so far:
Li Mao attempts to reclaim Jia Yu and usurp Wu Yi's power, including his army and the Phoenix Heart token, by framing his own family. Wu Yi narrowly escapes and tries to prevent Li Mao from executing his father and brother, but he arrives too late. Li Mao even compels Jia Yu to shoot an arrow at Wu Yi. Wu Yi manages to escape to Beiqin, seeking help from Prince Ying. Meanwhile, Li Mao uses the rest of Wu Yi's family to force Jia Yu to marry him, and, for some reason, Grand Tutor also dies (not sure if Li Mao killed him). Wu Yi pretends (maybe?) to work with Prince Ying to overthrow Li Mao, who has already seized control of the court. They use Li Le Jun, his sister, as a bargaining tool for a fortress, but Li Mao hesitates. In response, Wu Yi shoots her, fulfilling her request to push Li Mao further into villainy and likely seeking revenge for his family. Wu Yi then uses the token to overthrow Li Mao and take back the army to protect the country from Beiqin. He sustains serious injuries during the battle and pretends to be dead to hide away and recover. Xia Ju does not believe he is dead and continues to pray at the great tree. Eventually, Wu Yi returns, and they reunite, getting married once again. This aligns with her master’s prophecy that she would have three husbands: Wu Yi (her first husband who dies), Li Mao, and then Wu Yi again.
1. No, it's an original script, so no novel. 2. I don’t think that's the case. China has very strict laws regarding minors, so I doubt they would want to risk the drama being canceled before it even airs, haha. It doesn’t even have any "real" kiss scenes; a forehead kiss is the most we can expect. 😭 I'm not sure why there are only 28 episodes, but maybe they want to keep the story focused and logical without adding too many fillers.

I like both leads, but they don't fit well in this drama, to be honest. Neither of them has the necessary presence, and their acting feels mediocre at best. It’s frustrating to see fans blindly defending their favorite without understanding that the novel itself is quite different.
