Okay, so I'm confused. Does he have hearing problems or not? Does he have to communicate with post its or not?…
I only made it about 10 minutes into the first episode before I couldn't take it anymore, so if they explain why he chooses not to speak when he has hearing loss during the rain (so his soulmate can't hear him??? Ok...), I missed it haha, but I believe you. Like I said, I hope y'all enjoy it.
I’ll try to explain it as best as I can. This is basically a soulmate au where, when it rains, the people with…
I feel like a lot of people don't know how hearing loss works. People who lose their hearing after learning how to speak can still speak. Their voices may sound different compared to when they could hear, but they can still speak, so no post-it required. On the other hand, the premise of this is so ridiculous to begin, why let a little inaccuracy relating to a disability throw us off??? No, but really, I think the whole plot is dumb, but I know people love this kind of silliness, so I hope it's good for the people who like that stuff. I will just pop in here every now and then and see if anything amazing happens, otherwise, I'm giving this one a pass.
He's heavily depressed and generally unwell, he doesn'lt know any better.
He's a grown ass man, not a child. What do you mean, he doesn't know any better??? Your comment is so infantilizing to people with mental illness (such as myself). Having a mental illness doesn't mean you get excused for your shitty behavior. People with mental illness should be held accountable for our behavior just like anyone else, otherwise, you are saying we are basically children, not able to know right from wrong and be good people. Nah, gtfo here with that bs.
editing sucked so bad.. there was so much wasted time in every episode where there was no dialogue and long dragged…
I think this is just kind of a thing in BL, especially the older ones. A lot of them did this, where there was a 2-3 second pause between every line of dialogue, even when the pauses were totally unnecessary. Most of the newer BLs have stopped doing this, but every now and then one comes back and does it.
This show has really evolved into something unexpected. This last episode was very touching and I have to say, they have done a surprisingly good job of delicately portraying Uea's trauma and mental health journey. King has really stepped up and their relationship has changed in really positive ways. I love that Uea is still himself and hasn't given up his personality to his new relationship with King. And the way they are actually working to resolve the workplace sexual harassment and sexual assaults is very unusual for a BL.
This series still has plenty of flaws (the pacing for example, when people are talking I never know if they are pausing because they are giving the other person time to respond or if they are pausing because the director told them to, it's too slow), but it has grown far beyond what I expected at the beginning. This is a great example of a show that can have a strong sexual component and still have a meaningful plot (unlike Check Out, or even Big Dragon, which had a terrible first half, but got a little better in the 2nd half)
oh I agree... I do think thai BL FANS spam dislike to keep korean shows low... but thank God MDL isn't respected…
I like Moonlight chicken and my school president, so I'm fine with them having high ratings. I also like this show, but I wouldn't give it a rating until it's over, because without knowing how it ends, I can't say what I think the quality is. A bad ending drags the quality of the showdown a lot.
Also you seem to be doing exactly (opposite) what you're accusing Thai fans of doing, which is promoting Korean bl's and criticizing thai bls
Uhhhh....the tension between these two! Every time they start staring at each other, I am trapped! It's like being a fly caught in a spider web. I love it! I am so nervous for Ji Hyun's heart, I feel like he's going to get it broken at least once during this relationship. 💓💙
One point to clarify, I am not saying that queer dramas are not worth watching unless there is a kiss, what I…
Yeah, I hear that. I would love to see more asexual representation as well. It's always frustrating from the perspective of representation, but also I bet there are lots of amazing stories about asexual people that we're just not getting to see.
Cute, fluffy, they both got over the 7 year gap really fast, not much else to say. I liked it, probably won't stick with me for too long (cause it's fluff haha)

Yes, I do think that BL as a genre historically is about straight people capitalizing off of the desires of queer people to see ourselves represented in media. However, I do think that in recent years, that has been changing. For example many of the GMM TV dramas have queer directors and, most likely queer cast members, although of course it is difficult for them to come out of the closet publicly, I know. I do think that Thailand has been one of the countries at the forefront of the move to put more queer people behind the camera and at the very least, to have actors support queer causes such as the same sex marriage referendum in Thailand.
I agree with you, it is not as simple as kiss means good, no kiss means bad. I also think that I am more frustrated with this drama than many because the lead up was so good. A similar situation would be the Japanese version of cherry magic. It was amazing and then at the end they teased a kiss and hid it behind elevator doors. Because the drama was so good the fall at the ending was even worse.
I think the show can be praised for the relative complexity of its plot, which I also enjoyed, while also criticized for its ending. All dramas are a mixture of positive things and negative things, so I think it's fair to present a balanced critique that gives credit where it's due but also holds accountability where accountability is due.
