The novel is very good. It has a heavy political setting however one of the best novels I've ever read. The danmei scenes are not many since the relationship starts from the point of view of adopted father and son. What keeps you on board is how Chang Geng fights the feelings he has for his adopted father but later on when they get together it becomes so beautiful; they pamper each other alot. Give it a try I swear you won't notice the danmei scenes are countable.

It is really one of the novels I liked. I never like heavily political invested dramas but this one is on another different level. So straightforward with a great story without a moment of boredom. If you read novels then don't forget on this one. Very beautiful. TJC and CZY even make it more beautiful as the main pair. I believe the drama will do the novel justice and live up to Priest's iconic name.
This is one of that rare dramas where you almost forget following up the story and just listen to the OSTs. Songs are very beautiful. There is a song that reminds of a certain OST I heard from a korean drama. Kuddos to the whole drama. Nice cinematography, ost, directing and acting. I'm ashamed I almost took to heart some of the comments and gave up such a beautiful drama. It is common in storyline but I love it.

Practically the lead is absent almost thoughout the drama and I'm still wondering if he's still the lead. I like TJC but his character as Prince Zhou gets to my nerves and is quite irritating. He seems more like the lead than Xu kai.
I guess it would be good to get new faces for neutrality and I guess if DCX and ZLH got the roles then I am quite okay with that. First of all what compliments them is the height difference which I really hoped for in this cast. DCX is 175cm while ZLH is 188cm tall isn't this so cute already. I am quite sure DCX if casted he'll really pull any role well after watching him in Painted skin and Wuliang. As for ZLH he did a great job in Maiden Holmes as a new actor so I'll give him a benefit of doubt. Just hope this is no prank. I've been wasting my life waiting for this cast. There should be some hope now.
