I think you're going to get a consistent repeat of the same statements from a majority of the people:SAME!We ALL…
Hi,
I don't think writing is lazy.
On the contrary, it has become very sophisticated, very detailed, very elaborate.
At the same time, it's less inspired, and it just becomes a beautiful still life.
Very elaborate scripts, but they fail to produce intensity, rhythm, sincere emotion.
Example: Hotel Del Luna.
Older dramas have a less detailed writing, but all worked with a different objective: to be effective and aim for intensity.
Example: Queen of Ambition.

Never advise Goblin to a beginner!
You'll make him think Korean drama is sluggish and boring.
You'll disgust people with it.
It's better to have something with a story that's moving at the right speed.
"City Hunter," "My Love from the Star," for example.

Recent dramas are more artificial and there is a lot of overacting among the actors.
Some romcom are very good at the comedy aspect but fail on the love story.
That's not a big deal because I look mostly for comedy. Often the second half of the drama focuses on the romance, but that's stereotypical. You don't believe in it and the drama becomes soft and slow. So I give up a lot of drama about halfway through.
Some of the dramas take on more of a comedy side and are funny to the end. The romance is left on the back burner, and I find that a better option.
For a love story to be successful, you need drama, melodrama. Cute comedy drama doesn't work. The comedy part should be limited, and it should be based on situation comedy, not burlesque comedy. If the drama and its actors don't reflect seriousness and credibility, it doesn't work. It will remain just a cute romantic story without feeling.

Another factor to consider is the number of dramas seen previously.
Not everything is the fault of the dramas! An experienced spectator becomes more demanding. He has a sharp eye. He asks for more: dramas that live up to his favourite dramas. As time goes by, tastes evolve towards more demands.

As a spectator, you have to ask yourself what you really feel, and try to analyse why a drama does not meet the required criteria.
At the moment, the number of dramas that I am likely to like sincerely is very small.

I'll take three examples. This is not a review of these dramas, but rather a review of "how I feel" and "what is my true feeling about the drama". Yes, one should not cheat with one's true feeling. Opinion and affect must be sincere, no matter what the other spectators think.

Crash Landing on You: Objectively, the drama is great. It is of exceptional quality, especially thanks to the North Korean scenes. Subjectively, too much cheese, forced comedy, overacting. So I'm bored. Impossible to get emotionally involved. The end result, concerning my feeling: I don't like it! Of course, I'm looking for mitigating circumstances. "Yes, it's not that bad anyway", or "I can't reject the drama completely, because they put a lot of means to do it, and there are still good scenes". Whatever reasons I can find to smooth things over, it's useless. The only thing that counts is the final feeling, and it's negative. Most of the dramas I see fall into that category. I drop the drama most of the time, with a few exceptions. For Crash Landing on You, I was curious to go all the way because of the theme, but I forced myself painfully. Any drama that you force yourself to see the end is because you don't like it!

Tales of Nokdu: Objectively, it's a historical drama that's a bit too light, at first glance. Subjectively, Kim So Hyun is one of my favorite actresses, the actress's acting is going to be credible, captivate me and help me enter the story. During the second half of the drama, the love story has a strength that I really didn't expect, for a drama that I thought was light. My final feeling: it was a drama that I liked, but in an average way. A drama a little above the others. Note that I'm quantifying my feelings here. Which is never good, because it means that I didn't like it sincerely and completely. But at least I had a good time. A lot of drama falls into that category.

Love In Sadness: Objectively, a melodrama whose rhythm I fear is slow and boring. Subjectively, the drama surprises me by the quality of the actors. It surprises me even more when I see that there is no cheese or comedy, and that the tone used is not that of classical melodrama. It's more realistic and natural. Soon the story creates a situation of permanent, suffocating tension, which I really and sincerely feel. My final feeling: a drama that I completely loved. So it's an absolute feeling, without half measures. There is an easy way to detect a drama that you sincerely loved: you want to see it again. Or to see some particular scenes again. Or to go and see MVs of that drama on youtube. Although it is difficult to quantify or put a note, we can observe that in the dramas that fall into this category, there are differences. Some we love even more, "masterpieces". Some that are considered to be of slightly lower quality. But on the whole, the general feeling remains "I sincerely loved".

Is this good? Worth watching?
Quite boring, many fillers and secondary storys. If you liked an intense drama like King 2 heart, you will have difficuty to like this one. 1st episode is nice because you drop easely into the story, but soon, it become sleepy. You don't feel tension and danger to be traped in North Korea. A good point : North Korea is well portrayed (the writer got a lot of assistance for that) and directing give real illusion to be there. Otherwise, it's classic romcom, nothing new nothing mindblowing, and nothing trilling. So it depend of you. If you liked cheesy blockuster drama like Descendant of the sun, you should like this one too. If you are more exigeant, forget it.

Thanks to your comment, I started watching that drama.
Although I've seen a lot of drama, I'm not jaded.
I love this story, it's extremely powerful.
Emotions hit hard and right.
Thank you for your opinion.
I don't have time to write my opinion.
Right now, I like everything and the soundtrack is very good.
The only negative point of the drama is the rock song that appears from time to time on some stress scenes and sounds very bad.

Well, I really enjoyed the critique (very well written and humorous), but I also really enjoyed the drama. Eye…
Goblin has everything it takes to make someone happy.
Poetic atmosphere, sublime realization.
If the rhythm of the story is not a problem, I understand that people like it.
Such a success doesn't come out of nowhere! ;-)
