I think what really killed me was when SS's mum said if SS wasn't her daughter, she wouldn't even let a girl like…
I really thought their relationship would mend after they slapped the hell out of the Lou 's mother and daughter (they were a badass duo btw) but when she condemns CSS that badly in public, all that goes down the drain and everything is ruin...again. I don't know where the writer is going with her character, its all over the place. If you love your daughter, be consistent and unbiased, teach/reason with her properly and at least protect her feelings. At this rate I don't know if I can expect any development between them mother-daughter, its dragging.
Low-budget drama that is good and light-hearted. Nothing too bad nor anything that stands out. My only annoyance is the ending theme song, don't know if its just me. The singer's voice sounded so shaky that it gave me a headache. Is it bad singing or bad audio quality? I just didn't like it. Had to skip over to the next episode before that song play.
Feel like every tragic side story throughout this drama prepared us for an even bigger tragedy at the end. Well, not all good drama needs to have a happy ending and I enjoyed this.
So far I only found this drama (8 episodes out now) in Mandarin dubbed which is a killjoy. I like watching it in original Cantonese voice undubbed. Its a Hong Kong drama afterall. I'll wait for it to complete airing first before I start watching
I love the female lead! Yes, she is average looking but is cute and adorable and that's her charm. The only thing I wish they had done was gave her a better/normal queen hairstyle instead of the two weird buns in the front that's completely unlike the other palace females' hairstyles in the drama. I think she also had a similar hairstyle in Song of Youth.
Bao Shang En is a new actress. I've actually been expecting works from her and the other new actresses ever since I first saw them in China competition show Ace Actress. She's talented and I'm glad her acting career finally started as her first lead role in this drama. She must've been very excited, thru out the drama, she laugh and smile very naturally also when playing Pipa. You can see that she was having fun.
I can't get over the way the actress of Yang LiHua's hair looks. Her dyed brown hair look so out of place with the fake black hair that it bugs me in all her scenes. Idk if it's the stylist fault or her own notion but it just seem so unprofessional.
What annoyed me about this drama is that the FL just accepts the way everyone treats her and blaming her for being at fault for her breakup with the ML including the ML himself. After ML told her that he never wanted to see her again out of nowhere, its only normal for any girl to think thats him dumping her. Then he lets all their friends think she dumped him after she left to US (not of her own accord) without clarifying as if he has done nothing wrong. FL also didn't speak up after coming back and just let everyone misunderstand her and thought of her as being selfish and cruel.
Another thing is when they made a big deal about her being previously married then divorced and that shes not fit to be with the ML. As if being married before made her 'used goods' and she doesn't have the quality to pursue happiness and be with an eligible bachelor.
Other than those frustrating points, I think its a nice drama about youthful first love. The relationship between the Main leads also seems to balance out by the end of the drama (as he treats her better) so it was not too bad.
Story and characters are very well done so far. I'm hooked and hope this kind of pace continue to the last episode. Liu YiFei chose a drama with good script for herself this time.
Wow, look like they really sugar this drama up. I didn't think I would see another ancient drama this sweet and flirty after My Sassy Princess. If you're not into the overly sweet romance then this not for you. As for me, I will surely enjoy it 🥰
The open ending seem to suggest as if there will be a second season but with all those deaths I don't know what else is there to the story to tell beside HJ and her son finding BC. Maybe if they introduce a whole nother list of characters and create new conflicts but seem unlikely.
I've got to say Beicheng has been a bit more measured, calmer with Hangjing since her return. He really loves…
That is very true. I also like the way he matured here. I think he is trying very hard to control himself this time around. He is being very careful and patient with her as if he's afraid she may leave him again.

I'll just roughly translate but I am not that good, my understanding is still limited.
The last scene in that preview,
Shen Yan Qing (her fake undercover husband) said: Although the child is no longer here, every year you would make clothes for him/her and has never put it away (or forget). Han Jing: If the child survives, he would've been one year older (now) and he would be speaking a lot of words... SYQ: Now all the misunderstandings have been resolved. You also know that the child's death had nothing to do with Bei Chen. I think after the mission is complete, you should return to his side. I can see that you still have feelings toward him. HJ: Between Xiao Bei Chen and I, there's too many, too many cracks...

Too bad she's not dead and will continue to do evil in later episodes...
