I need someone to tell me the aspects of which this drama demonstrated the best. I want to know why it is different…
As someone who loves the show, I can tell you what you can keep your expectations low about: pacing, slowness of scenes people in that time talk slow, act slow, and a lot of explicitly unexplained time travel mechanics (how, why, this man time travelled), tiny audio mixing issues there are about 2-3 instances where i thought the background music shouldn't have been so loud. That being said the GOOD aspects of this drama are: the portrayal of thai culture, thai QUEER history, a lot of tropes subversion, compelling subplots in addition to the main characters romance, the ACTING (not just the main leads but everyone else), fully immersive experience of being in thailand 1927, the care in detail for props, costumes, local accent, overall high quality production, the CINEMATOGRAPHY, the color palette.

I hope you will take the chance to watch it nonetheless despite the weaknesses mentioned in order to enjoy this beautiful love story đŸ„ș

No the special episode is based on a special chapter the author wrote, that is NOT canon. it is more like alternative ending

Novel: Jom go from 2023 - to 1927 - to 1700 (dark khun yai) - to 2023 (meet yai's reincarnation 'kanthorn') +…
I think the director wanted to satisfy book fans by giving both the ending of the novel (Jom meeting Yai reincarnation in 2023) and also hope for season 2 (Jom meeting Commander Yai im 1700s). so thr result is confusing for audiencd who haven't read the book. I think people who havent read should just ignore after credit scene with Commander Yai for the series to make more sense 😅

For you guys who have read the novel, I have question:Are Yai-Jom story in 1700 is kind of "from enemy to lover"…
cold harsh commander yai who has no idea who the hell jom is => jom actively pursues commander yai to no avail => jom about to give up and cries his heart to yai => commander yai is slowly smitten with jom and eventually loves him as passionately as 1927 yai (even more one may argue)

Okay guys ..now clear my doubts! Now did khun yai travelled to future .to meet jom ( like in the special ep).…
Novel: Jom go from 2023 - to 1927 - to 1700 (dark khun yai) - to 2023 (meet yai's reincarnation 'kanthorn') + there is special au chapter unrelated/not connected to the og story that the author wrote about 1927 khun yai accidentally time travelling to the present (not in official translations, only available in thai on some platforms posted by the author violet rain, i only read unofficial fan translation of this chapter)

Series: jom 2023 -> 1927 yai -> 2023 meet kanthorn -> go back to 1700 (maybe if we get season 2 -> we'll get jom in 1700 -> 2023). if u ignore after credit scene, it can just simply ends at jom meeting 2023 reincarnation of yai who has memories of 1927 yai and jom. + special episode based on special chapter mentioned above, not connected, not related to the og storyline, can think of it as spinoff/alternate universe episode

Jeed is Jom's little sister though 😭 Reincarnations don't have anything to do with ancestry I think. There…
Yes 😅 So 1927 she is Yai's bigger sister but in 2023, she is Jom's little sister. Their destiny are very much intertwined for sure 😉

did someone know about the "man" on James wallet ? did that have own story? tell me please.who the cast?
All we know is James' love died before he could tell them he loved them, which is why James advised Jom to follow his heart and act on his feelings for Khun Yai in episode 6. We also know that James never got to "love" the love of his life because when Jom confided in him about being unlucky in love (when Yai got arranged engagement), James tell him at least Jom is luckier than him because he has experienced love but James never got to (in episode 10). That's all we know. Bonus fun fact: The man in James' wallet is a picture of Plan, who plays the main character in another Dee Hup House series where it is a love story between a ghost/human.

Is it just me who didn’t see a preview for next episode??😭idk why for me the episode didn’t include it.…
They intentionally hid the preview. On all platforms it ends where the episode ends. We must wait until next Wednesday to see the preview.

One of the best this BL this year no matter the country of origin, probably number one for me too. The acting…
Jeed is Jom's little sister though 😭 Reincarnations don't have anything to do with ancestry I think. There is still Khun Lek (Peung and Yai's little brother). To spoil a bit from the novel, Yai's modern reincarnation is a descendant from Lek (like his great grand father?). I'm not sure it it's changed but that's the novel approach.

Hi everyone! So I have yet to post my lengthy comment for ep 10 (even though it’s in my draft T-T) but I am…
can i just say i love the green color palette of this series, like the bokeh effect of the outdoor scenery opening shot is just absolutely stunning. definitely something i would try to take a picture of whenever im outdoor. even if you’re not watching IFYLITA for the plot, you can surely appreciate the aesthetic aspect of the series.

khun yai finding it hard to believe.. oh my boy you're in for A RIDE.

i love how jom takes khun yai's hand close to his face for him to touch him, to convince him that he isn't a "ghost" and they reuse this visual motif many times before during yaijom's intimate scenes. THE CINEMATOGRAPHY DIRECTION IS IMMACULATE. I love when a couple have very distinctively love language, it fleshes out a relationship and doesn’t make it seem a director is trying to shove all kinds of romantic gestures into a couple, which is unrealistic. This point once again highlights the realistically queer love in the depiction of yaijom.

"what kind of ghost would be so warm" this is an exact line from the novel. the exact dialogues for their confrontation. this series keeping up its reputation for following strictly some of the dialogues til the very end, mad respect!

I love how Jom's eyes are welling with tears yet he looks so beautiful. Nonkul is such a good crier... the shakiness in Jom's voice is absolutely killing me

I love how Jom confronts Yai about the prospect of their relationship. FINALLY. we love couples who can be open and COMMUNICATE! I think the best moments of YaiJom are all their intimate heart-to-heart talks in bed. They're just so soft and in love and YOU FEEL THE ROMANCE IS ROMANCING.

What makes IFYLITA such a standout series in 2023 for me is how well-done the Big Romance moments are. I keep referring to it as Thai Downton Abbey, Outlander or Bridgerton but anyone knows that those western series are often long and have time to build up epic romantic slowburns. So for IFYLITA to build such an epic grand romance of the century, all the grand romantic moments need to HIT and FIT within the stories. and IFYLITA DID IT!

Jom talking about how much meeting Yai has changed his life and about Yai standing up for everyone else but little did he know he is the person who made that change (that the monk spoke about)... AND YAI SPOKE MY MIND. This is a nice expansion from the novel because I think a lot of viewers are curious about the purpose of Jom’s time travel, why was he sent there and the novel could not give us a very satisfying answer even until the end of the book. But for me the series did, Jom did not transport back in time to simply find his destined love (even though that is the main reason), Jom transported back into the past in order to change the lives of everyone in the Palathip household, Khun Yai as well as the servants working there.

Even though Peung is pregnant like in the book, it is interesting to see Peung determined to get an abortion (at the suggestion of Fongkaew). Whoever is in that writers room bringing up womens struggle, women sexual assault, lesbians and lgbtq+, and now ABORTION
I thank YOU! It’s refreshing to see Peung taking the my body my choice route and her reminding Maey that she’s just informing her, not asking for permission because she’s already made up her mind.

but anyhow dee hup house needs to pay for always putting happy yaijom and immediately sad maeypeung after... because the whiplash of emotions im always going through watching this series likeeeeee

oh no... khamsaen doesn't know fongkaew has been sexually asaulted but i like that he didn’t let her go so easily. maybe fongkaew/khamsaen might be the only couple from 1928 to get their happy ending at this rate

WHY ARE BRIGHT AND NONKUL SO ATTRACTIVE. I LITERALLY CANNOT FOCUS EVEN WHEN THEY'RE DISCUSSING STH VERY SERIOUS... im here like wow their makeup is so pretty in this scene, especially with the lighting like they just looks TOO GOOD

I love how one of Yai's love languages is cupping Jom's face. Once again YaiJom’s love language motif is being reused over again throughout each episodes but different context and emotions everytime. I really wish I could be in the writers room when they were drafting and storyboarding this series because they are GENIUSES.

Bright's features really makes him look like a greek god. From every angle, like he just exudes classy gentleman, period films male lead vibes.

We need to talk about the cinematography in this series, because the blocking of the scene, the frame in which Jom is drawing Yai on the bed, in between them is a bed post and the lighting is visually different. IMMACULATE FRAMING! I am obsessed!

Yai putting his hair down and middle parting it is truly lethal
 illegal
how dare they give us Yai in such hairstyle. He looks like a BABY! I like that we’re at a point where Jom can freely admitthat he wants to gatekeep topless Yai.

What is so good about IFYLITA writing is that all the points tie in together (point above corresponding with Ep.7 where Jom refuses to admit his jealousy, “change in the household” since ep 3, ep 8-9 and now ep 11
) No subplot is left behind (except for the mysterious forestry business James/Robert got going on) but the major subplots of different couples are given great attention, especially MaeyPeung.

MAEYPEUNG escaping this household together. this is very handmaiden-esque move AND WE STAN.

What I dislike about the cut version is the aggressive cutting of even main characters (YaiJom) scenes. In the uncut, we have a montage of Khun Yai reading every book he can find on time travelling (the man is reading HG Wells novel, so cute) while ignoring Jom who’s slightly distraught that Yai doesn’t pay attention to him. And then we have a beautiful scene of Yai reading during bath time and Jom is being adorably cute (Nonkul absolutely transformed himself because he really looks like Jom who stepped out of the novel, his boba eyes, making himself tiny Jom ducking in the water)

I think they also cut the scene where Yai and Jom are walking into the temple and it’s literally the most beautiful shot
unacceptable. But like the lighting within the temple is so beautiful... whoever did the coloring for this series, i hope they sleep with a warm pillow every night.

The beautifully aesthetically pleasing cinematography reminds me of how much Director Tee Bundit, Nonkul and Bright have been outspoken about BL series as a kind of rising soft power in recent interviews, using IFYLITA as reference for how it’s easy to promote thai culture, history, values, tourism
through this period series without having to force things in unnaturally.

The uncut montage provides context for Yai’s confused expression and his inability to accept that Jom must go at some point whereas Jom has somewhat resigned to his fate of eventually disappearing. Because that montage of Yai reading, searching for “solutions” while ignoring Jom, elaborates for Yai calling himself a fool for wasting all those time finding more information instead of spending the rest of the remaining time with his love Jom.

AND I WAS MENTALLY PREPARED GOING INTO THIS SCENE BUT THE TEARS STILL FALL LIKE WATERWORKS! I HATE IT HERE. MY DEAR YAI JOM, I WILL PROTECT YOU BOTH!

From uncut, we learn that Jom asked Ming to deliver the invitations to a kind of farewell party he has prepared to be able to say goodbye to everyone while he still can
It is so precious and very sad to see Ming being concerned that he has to part ways with his bestie already.

I love the parallels in between Jom fixing up Yai's outfit in ep 4 and Yai fixing Jom's outfit in ep 11. Their relationship is very equal and balanced even those both are in positions that could have an imbalance power dynamic. I just wanna say I LOVE IFYLITA writers.

Obsessed with the modern-esque outfits at this farewell party, dare I say it’s even prettier than the outfits in episode 7 in the ballroom scene. Like Fongkaew hasn’t had a SINGLE bad outfit ever since she dyed her dress red. She’s truly a FASHION ICON!

Yai and Jom dancing in ep 11 with everyone accepting and blessing them is literally Yai and Jom's dream in ep 7 coming true
IFYLITA interlacing yaijom dancing + kissing in the rain scenes... oh tee bundit and friends absolutely ATE and they Knew what they’re doing showing the flashbacks like that. This is really the “happy ending moments” novel yai and jom were robbed of. And yet the series DELIVERED! Once again I’m just here to say I love the IFYLITA screenwriters.

Jom knowing his face wont come out so he's smiling brightly but Yai couldn’t even smile in that photo.... OH THE PAIN!

We finally get Jom entrusting Yai with his letter for him to keep and pass on for generations and generations so his family in the present could get the letter at one point. IFYLITA series is really adapting EVERYTHING DOWN TO A T.

I hate how Jom is narrating in the sweetest and most cheerful voice but I am bawling on the floor. the episode ended right when im crying is a very good editing decision dee hup house. i agree. let's stop here because i cannot take more sadness.

Actually i didn't cry as much as i thought i would when Yai was being a big crying baby and blaming himself but when Yai read Jom's letter... oh Tee Bundit KNEW what he was doing and by the end of the episode I just feel completely empty

The series keeps outdoing itself and it really builds up without having to diverge, create crazy subplots midway. I think the writing is quite tight, especially if you consider how much they’ve changed in order to expand the plot of the novel.

On I Feel You Linger in the Air Oct 28, 2023
Hi everyone! So I have yet to post my lengthy comment for ep 10 (even though it’s in my draft T-T) but I am here. TO TALK ABOUT EP 11. This series keeps blowing me away week after week and I say this as someone who’s already read the novel (and I’m pretty sure all the novel readers here will agree).

I know I sound like a broken record saying this every week but I will say it again, regardless whatever happens next week, IFYLITA is already a PERFECT series! For me, there is no need for a happy ending in ep 12, a simply goodbye scene between Yai and Jom will do... IFYLITA is truly perfect from start to almost finish. I hope everyone who is still lingering and waiting for it to end, just hop on the bus already and binge-watch it so y’all can watch the series finale next week with us.

Onto my first thoughts as I watched EP.11 (down below)

Imagine if they do IFYLITA S2, Bright already spent hours in makeup (tanning) and tats just to film one short…
The budget needed for S2 is HUGE! I hope IFYLITA gains huge popularity eventually so they can gather enough interested investor to make a successful Part 2 (whether in film form or series form). It's still blowing my mind how IFYLITA has zero product placement and ads. I can totally wait if time is needed to make a perfect Part 2.
