Episode 1 is good. The fighting style and the female lead’s strong sense of justice stand out, and the character work is solid. It also has a mystery element, though it involves a kid. The child travels like a living mystery, and everyone wants to know the secret. It’s a bit weird, but it fits well in this mystery-fighting world.

That’s your idea of struggle, but to me, it’s just an obstacle.
The struggle I’m talking about is extreme, like in Flourished Peony, where she’s forced to marry, the double buried alive; or Love Like Galaxy, where she’s banished to the countryside; or Princess Agents, where she’s hunted by wolves. And so on. That’s real struggle, not just an obstacle.
One must know the difference between an obstacle and a struggle, only then can understand in life.
If you can’t even understand that, that’s fine. Take care.

The first episode was so epic, but honestly, it kind of messed up the pacing. I think the trailer looked way more amazing, to be real.
I went in expecting:
Male lead: a broken man, a scholar struggling while taking the imperial exams.
Female lead: a rich, spoiled young mistress.
Plot: a massacre or revenge event that forces them together against the odds.
Huh.
But in the actual drama (first 4 episodes), the couple looks like they have almost no struggle so far. Not what I expected at all.

"That's not quite how Season 1 portrayed it. The Crown Prince (Li Ce) has a different mother. The big sister and her younger brother, the Second Prince, share the same mother; he's intelligent but still a young kid. The big sister basically controls the spies and merchants, so she's way too OP. Li Ce, the Crown Prince, had the Queen as his mother, but she died early. He's a playboy and not clever, which is why the big sister wanted to remove him as Crown Prince, but she didn't succeed, so she hoped her younger brother would become king instead. Then Season 2 does a total flip-flop, and we don't see the princess at all. Her bending-sword style is amazing, like in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. She was seeking more power, which is why she snuck into the Afterlife Camp. Nice drama!

Okay, but why did the secret agent vanish, the princess and big sister of Li Ce? She was too OP in Season 1: the Afterlife Camp, finding Cloud Token, and that bending sword technique, she was amazing. Then she just gets reduced to ash? Lol, is it just because Li Ce becomes king and rules instead of the princess? Because she was too OP? so let delete her lol introducing queen and king lol

Yes, it's great, but the storyline about Chu's mother and that whole mystery needed more expansion, yet it just went nowhere. The secret agent vanished somehow (10?), and Princess Lang is nowhere to be found. Didn't she team up with Yuwen Hua to destroy Yanbei, lol? your yan xun alone isn't enough
